A good boxed full set figure is worth every penny. I paid good money to get the Phantom of the Paradise with a plunger, paid it again to get my Doctor Elebenty and he is one of the best figures ever. Hot Toys do good work on their stuff.

Phantom of the Paradise?

Yea I love the Hot Toys style figures - seriously if Big Chief do a Capaldi... Even with their less than stellar-tailoring I think I'd snap him up.

It's a shame about their 4 though, I would've bought him if 1) his scarf was better 2) he didn't look perpetually hungover (and I couldn't justify 11/10 when they were affordable, sadness, despite 10 and 11 being probs their best Doctor sculpts so far... I feel twinges of regret at not getting 11. Though 10 is better tailoring-wise) And of course if they did a McGann... (yeah i'm just not good enought at small-scale painting to attempt a custom).

Ahem anyhow until 8 or Capaldoc (cos seriously is it 13 or 12? I dunno?) comes out I'll stick to the occasional Hot Toys that catches my eye...

(The Crow is gonna terrorise Loki on their shared shelf when he gets here (though as usual I think Tony is going to steal his accessories - he's claimed Loki's "reindeer games" helmet for himself and I suspect he'll take the guitar too))

Swan is the Phantom expert and if you don't know about the plunger or can't real real from drug real you need to see the movie.

Wanted Action Figure has done an 8 that looks kind of okay. Roger the Royal Marine by DML has the young Paul look, my older War Doctor is a Barrack Sergeant head. For a scarf some sock or lace weight yarn, tiny needles, and the pattern that's on the web but only doing half the rows works. I've made a few small ones.

Hah - googled it, that film looks amazing!

Thanks for the suggestions! Yea the main issue with custom casts/simply altering a close sculpt is my inability to make them look good... (sadly I fail at the grape-sized heads - miserably, I can just about manage the cartoony style that can look ok-ish on obitsus but realistic sculpts? Eeek!!)

And hrmph comics why you so sexist?? Just found out what the Dilbert author thinks about equal pay for women... He compared it to children demanding sweets... And in a roundabout fashion this led to me reading about Yvonne Brill a rocket scientist, who's obituary focussed on her more *ahem* feminine aspects such as a recipe for beef stroganoff rather than, I don't know, the fact that she developed some pretty revolutionary engine designs... FFS this is part of the reason why so many misogynistic arses think no women have ever contributed to science... (And yea tangentially related rage when the white male presenter of a fairly innoffensive if naff talk show mocked the Bechdel test when it was explained for one of their pre-filmed segments... ¬.¬ ...Seriously exposure to a feminist friend of mine has removed the scales from my eyes, and well it's resulted in multiple daily bouts of rage... Not good for the blood pressure I suspect!)

The DML Roger head looks fine as he is right down to Paul's pre movie buzz cut. At the most you'd just need to make his eyes blue.

The War Doctor before I did anything to him but he looks like an older angry Paul more than a young John Hurt. http://dolfielittles.com/hyb/2070.jpg

I think I want to quit my dolls website but I'll keep up with my blog and can post pictures and info there. I no longer want to keep it up, no longer want to update it, no longer want to keep half the dolls I have just for the website. I have several other domain names when I want one. Other people are getting in to the comparison game.

Congrats on the second interview! Are they likely to want to do some sort of competency/knowledge test as part of the interview? That would certainly pad it out a bit.

Congrats on the interview!

I hummed and thought over it for awhile...But I'm gonna pass up on an Ai Doll Blackberry in order to buy both the books I want to. If I still want it eventually it'll still be there.
