Nope, everything was built at a studio in England. The outside pictures with the mountain are the real Timberline Lodge in Oregon, the interiors were inspired by the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite Valley but it was all built. Kubrick approved the blueprints and the confusing layout. The road is a third location, I forgot exactly where, in a national park.

I'm officially in the new house. the transition to suburban housewife is complete. if I start baking and wearing dresses you'll know I was replaced with a robot. hahahaha...

it might be a while before I can reach the dolls, they're in the farthest reaches of what will become my office. omg... so many boxes. we have GOT to make a goodwill run.

I have an almost uncontrollable desire to send you a white ruffled apron and faux pearls. :D

Maybe the blood in the Shining gets out all by it's self and it might just be reflections. Still I had to weed through a lot of ~really~ just to find neat stuff like it was shot at 140 FPS and even the people who worked on it weren't sure if it was real or fake blood.

White aprons can stain so easily, get a fun apron. Mine says 'I child proofed my home but they still get in'.

I made an apron out of two yellow linen napkins I embroidered.

Aaaaaand... The Kraken wakes!

I actually have a bit of time today for surfing the net from my desktop rather than a tablet or (rarely) the wife's iPhone. Since my last posting, my son has turned 1 year old AND he has a little sister on the way. She should be here in about 7 weeks! Which means I will now be an old guy with TWO little rug rats to keep up with... around 16 months apart. And yes, this was all quite intentional and planned for. :? Just goes to show that Mrs. Mlatch and I are both insane!

@Trethowan: When is your baby due? Sounds like there's a bit of a mini baby boom going on around here.

He's due somewhere around Feb 9th.

Best wishes for your upcoming arrival. <3

Hey, us late bloomer baby boomers rock. We'll raise a generation on 70s and 80s references and nobody else will know what our kids are talking about. hahahaha "Let loose the Kraken!!!!"

Kraken? Looks like we're gonna need a big deep fryer and a lot of marinara sauce.

Congratulations to you too! :D
Since my DVD player has some limited internet access, my son has already seen some episodes of the first Ultraman series and he thinks The Muppets "Mahna Mahna" is hilarious. When he was still a newb, I discovered that playing early Thomas Dolby songs would calm him. So yeah, looks like my kids are going to be living in a popular culture time warp for a while.
