There can be other help depending on the problem.
If it is just sluggish and you don't have stones, bile salts or ox bile can help greatly.(these also will help you if you ever have to get it out) Bitter herbs and black tea can also greatly improve function. You can get both in pill form if you don't like bitter things.
If you have small and few stones you can try something like Stone Free or Stone Breaker. Both have great testimonials for dissolving stones over time. The are both based on bitter herbs. Oddly, a lot of places also say that radishes can dissolve them.
Unfortunately I did not know this until recently. I had controlled mine by diet for years. By the time I found this out I had 2 very large stones and a severe infection.(Had it ripped out last week) The funny thing is: you can control the attacks by going low fat, but low fat is more than likely what causes them to form. So, over time, they will get worse even on low fat. If at all possible, it is best to try to get function going again and get back to higher fat to prevent them.
Also to keep in mind: many people who have gallbladder issues are also found to have gluten issues. a lot of people claim that staying away from gluten has helped them immensely in this area.
Good luck!
