New Obitsu 60cm lady has landed....

Postby TheHighlander » Fri Oct 01, 2010 11:21 am

My 60cm girl has arrived, she's almost ready for primetime now, and last night we put my Sheba head on her. Misheru had done a face-up a while back in anticipation of the doll arriving. So we swapped out her bust to give her some larger assets, MSC'd her with some flat UV-cut, got her head on straight, and dressed her. She has a name now - well, my Sheba head does, she's Kira (as in Kira Nerys from DS9), it somehow just fit her.

I have a number of pictures to share, that I was working on last night, but they'll have to wait until this evening when i get home for me to post them.

In the meantime I thought I would share something I found while we were changing the head. With the new neck piece, we did not have to heat the vinyl or manhandle it to get the neck piece (new neck piece) out of the Gretel head, or to mount the Sheba on it. If you look into the underside of the neck piece there is a small screw with a Phillips head (aka star, or cross head). I got my handy set of jewelers/model makers screwdrivers and selected the appropriate one. 10 seconds later I had removed the neck piece without any trauma to the vinyl. Installing the pice into the Sheba head was a case of removing the head cap, placing the top par of the neck piece correctly, then sliding the lower piece into place and fixing with the fixing screw. Again, no trauma to the face or vinyl and no heating required.

The fixing screw is in the abs plastic, so I wouldn't want to remove it over and over again as that would strip the plastic and make the screw un-usable. However, I am purchasing a couple of spare neck pieces for my Gretel heads, I'll be able to install them quite quickly now. I just thought I would share, I figure that someone has already tried this before, but I have only ever seen the information about heating the vinyl to soften it to install the neck piece, this way just seems easier.

Eee, Kira! I love DS9, it's one of my favorites. I can't wait to see your Kira.

That tip about the neck piece is really useful. I was worried my 50cm Obitsu's head would be on there permanently.

Hi Tira-chan,

DS9 is/was my favorite Trek (and I am a die hard TOS fan). DS9 was the best though. Don't tell Shatner I said that. LOL!

Kira was named for Kira Nerys, but she doesn't look entirely like Major Kira. (Or should I say Colonel?)

Any way, I did a quick picture set of her. My camera sucks in low light, so some of the images are quite grainy. However they are quite nice.

I dressed Kira in a white lace body stocking, white lace unties and a white lace dress with - of course - white heels to match. White after Labor Day? OMG!

Here's the pictures....I'll post a few in this post, and link to the rest - they are in a gallery.

Image

Hey, wait, you didn't say anything about a camera and flash!
Image

This dress is really thin you know!
Image

Have you any idea how I'll look in this!?
Image

Oh, wait, you *do* know...Hmmmm...not sure about this.
Image

Where'd that name Kira come from anyway?
Image

No, I won't put the bear down, what about this name thing?
Image

Hey, my bear! Oh, this will work. NAME!!?? KIRA!?
Image

No, no posing until you tell me about my name.
Image

Pleeeeaasssee...?
Image

Oh, alright, your name Kira comes from one of my favorite fictional characters in a thing called Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Kira was a strong woman with a great sense of mischief, and despite her tough shell, she was very warm and passionate inside. Is that enough? Oh, and she was a fighter, led the resistance on her home planet and was a senior officer. Good enough?

Well....if you put it that way, who am I to complain?
Image

I suppose now you'll want more pictures?
Image

Yep, I will want more. But this shoot will do for now. You look great by the way.

*Sigh* You say the sweetest things.
Image

Last pic for the post...
Image

You can find the whole gallery of Kira's debut shoot at Kira's first gallery. Enjoy.

Well, that's it for now Kira spent the evening watching me work on the pictures. It's been a while since I had one of my girls sitting on my computer glaring at my every move. LOL! It's so good to finally have her here and in one piece. I really like the body and even the extreme cleavage...well, OK, I picked the cleavage... Don't these girls have long, long legs? Whoever sculpts these girls likes legs. I've got a few more outfits for her to try, so more pictures will come along. I also have two Gretel heads that will be getting faces and will co-share the body with Kira until another can be found. I am very happy I decided to take the plunge with the Obitsu, she is amazing.

Kira looks great and the Sheba head looks really nice on that body.

Yes, the 60cms are pretty leggy. I'm pretty sure the designer was an anime/manga fan and was going for that "legs forever" look. The DD2s are similar in their amount of leg, however they have a bit more overall "oomph". I think you'll be happy you went with the Volks pumps. Their ultra snug fit does not significantly impact posability (not bad for high heels).

She reminds me a little of Jane Seymour.

Welcome to the Obitsu fan club!! They are really awesome. And they do have really long legs! I have always liked that. However, they do have attitude, as Kira proves! :D

That bear looks familiar. Do you have an RnD Angel by chance? If you do, share her!!

She's very pretty! Yes, OBITSU FANS UNITE! I'm just happy to see another Sheba head, there don't seem to be too many of them around. She has quite the attitude!

One word of caution about her hanging around the computer, though. Keep her feets away from it! The magnets in them might mess with it's innards.

Yes, I can totally see that resemblance. I've always liked Jane Seymour - I think it was something to do with being young and impressionable and watching Live and Let die...knight in shining armor complex writ large...

The Volks pumps are great, I also have a pair of Obitsu ones in Red, and we have a couple of pair in black (both Volks I believe). Legs forever is fine with me.

I wasn't sure of her personality until she sat on the top of my computer watching me work, then I realized who she was. I have to say that for whatever reason, many of my girls have this mischievous thing in their personality, but it works for them. But Kira was just sitting there serenely, with just a glint of mischief in her face. Perhaps it's just the body language of being perched on the computer checking what I'm up to, but it works.

Yes, the bear is an R&D Angel's bear that was co-opted for the shoot, as was the pillow. Oh goodness, R&D Angels, where do I start. My first big doll was an R&D Angel Emma. She absolutely ruined me, I was hooked, I love that doll's face. Emma has maturity, beauty, and mischief, plus a great figure. Between Misheru and I we have a slightly obscene number of R&D Angels. Over time we've purchase a few new, and rescued many from Ebay and the bottoms of other collectors Doll chests. You might say we're an Angel Sanctuary.

This is my Emma. I think the pictures say it all.

Here's my Emma (my first one) in a blond wig.
Image

I've got Emma, Hiroko, Selena, Karen, Tokyo Angel - Electric Blue, Goth Ball Angel, and the newer ones, Ocean Blue, Purple Haze and Brown Beauty...Actually I have more than one Emma, Hiroko, Selina and Karen...it's an addiction.

Here's my Karen (wearing a Kitty Collier skirt that somehow fits).
Image

Kind of like Susies as well - the resin ones are like mini-angels.
Image

I adore the Electro-pop Susie as well
Image

All I can say is that R&D make some incredible dolls.

There are a few more pictures of my R&D girls in their gallery.

Yeah, the Sheba is nice, I do like the Gretel as well, but the Sheba is a pretty face. That attitude...my dolliehs never seem to be shrinking violets...

Oh good point about the magnets. The HDDs are buried in the bottom of the PC, so they should be safe, but I'll bear that in mind
