some people can't even make it in time after an asthma attack to make it to the ER. Does she realize this?

Why the state seems to insist on having it AFTER more than half of the counties have started school is beyond me, but since my daughter is homeschooled it isn't as much of an issue for us. Also, since most of the school systems in the metro area have already started school, I'm hoping for smaller crowds today. Tomorrow we go shopping for a new laptop for Joy (since my husband works today) so that might be a bit more ... fun.

We had that last weekend. Best part was that the only things that were tax free were clothes, and only if they were full prices lol. BACK TO SCHOOL TAX FREE WEEKEND, GET EVERYTHING BUT YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES, AS LONG AS IT ONLY CONSISTS OF CLOTHES AT FULL PRICE xD

She really wasn't interested. I live 30 miles from the nearest hospital so if I'm at home, I have no idea what I would do but hope my husband calls our local fire dept. because they have EMT's with everything needed to treat diabetic shock to asthma to anaphalactic (I hope I spelled that right) shock. The only reason why I know that is because the kids had a tour of the local firehouse and I tagged along.

Ask this "doctor" to put her recommendations in writing. Tell her directly that you want to be able to use it if you have an asthma attack and have to call the EMTs so they will understand why you don't have medication. And don't forget the pain meds - for the same reason, because at some point the pain will become so intense you will have to go to the emergency room and you want to be able to show the doctor in charge of the ER why you had to go there just to get medication. Neither the fire department nor the hospital appreciates having their time and resources used in this manner and she will be notified by them.

I'm totally serious. Do it. And when she balks, insist that she give you your medications or you will be contacting the state medical association as soon as you leave her office.

Then - whether she gives you your medication or not - find another doctor!

I can understand the pain meds, been there, done that, live with chronic pain all the time. Most doctors now won't let me take anything but Tylenol. It's f-in crazy, but the inhaler? That is a totally necessary item if you have asthma and not having one when you need it could kill you. I would get out of there and find a new doctor NOW. That doctor is a total quack. At the rate she is going she will be facing a malpractice suit, if not from you than someone else at some point when her advice does lead to someone being very ill or even dead.

I checked with dad, and he agrees with inhaler thing is weird. you guys know you can check your doctor's status with the state board online and see if there are any complaints, which I might suggest, and suggest making a complaint anyway.

Someone should call her and tell her that one of her patients are in the hospital because she wouldn't give them an inhaler. Scare it out of her >=3 but that is the jerk in me
