Pretty much everybody fails the first time. ;)
Just try again later; it'll be fine.

I failed my first one too but that was partially because the instructor was a jerk and thought he could have been hurt (I stopped at a stop sign then pulled up further because I couldn't see around the corner and a car shot around) and I didn't use a turn lane (becuse it wasn't really marked. I'm sure there were other reasons to, but he flat failed me for those two

arg. I want to email a podcast show I like and suggest a comic anthology with some information to help run it. but years of conditioning just tell me that the idea is stupid and I feel like a dick suggesting it to them.

Frequently the people who administer driver tests are jerks on purpose. The aim is to unsettle the driver and see how they react. Do you remain calm and in control at the wheel or do you become instantly angry, which can adversely affect your judgement and driving ability. The DMV doesn't seem too keen on issuing driver's licenses to new drivers that can easily lose control of their emotions and then lose control of their vehicle.

My memory tends to be fuzzy. Either I failed the driver's test the first time due to my chronic inability to parallel park. or I just kept messing it up in driver's ed and the test was the only time I got it right. I really can't recall which as driving has apparently been regulated to the 'irrelevant information' section of wherever my brain stores memories. I haven't had a working car in about a decade now. I keep my license renewed primarily because I worry about having valid photo ID these days.

the driving part wasn't too bad for me because it was basically going around the block I live in. it was the darn maneuverability test that got me.

I was awesome at parallel parking. I do that and reversing better than anything. My mom said I would have passed if I could have taken the test backwards >.>

We had driver's ed in high school back in the dark ages of my youth. For some reason Coach Savage, the teacher, picked me to demonstrate proper parallel parking. I blew him away by doing it perfectly. It was the first and last time I did. I failed it on my driver's test, but the tester decided I had passed the rest of the test with flying colors and I got my license anyway.

When I parked on my drivers license test the first time I parked OVER the line, not between them. I was nervous and it was so embarrassing. :-p
