My family is stunned ... This is our vet! We've gone to this vet since we moved here last year and really, really like everyone there. I don't think I want to bring my dogs back now, though....

Thanks guys, your comments did help a lot. I spent most of today drawing and it did help me get a lot of the black feeling out of my mind. I wrote some too just a little nonsense about silence and glowing orbs on parade. Now I'm just worried about stuff with the boyfriend, I told him some personal stuff last night and... I wouldn't exactly call his reaction positive just, I feel like we're on the verge of a fight. We're a lot alike in some of the best and worst ways. yadda yadda young adult drama.

Anything that starts or ends with "according to my family" needs to be summarily thrown out the window.

According to MY family, I need to get rid of my stuffed animals because I'm an adult.

I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

"Adult" my behind. Anyone who defines maturity by the amount of plushies and dolls is in desperate need for a reality check. The people running away from their inner child often are the least mature because they run away from other things too.

According to my Dad I should have quit studying in mid-postgrad because screw your dreams and ambitions, you've got a degree now get a job already. Those last few semesters were the best and most productive of my entire "college career" what with one thing or another. Sometimes parents just need to shut up about things that are only marginally their lives and which as a result they only marginally understand. Of course by now (seeing what those few precious extra semesters have done for me) he'll deny ever saying anything of that sort. Wouldn't you just know?

I'm he chief bread winner in the family but being that I'm not all that much like them I've given up looking for their acceptance. Even at almost 40 I can never measure up to a lazy, spoiled, and now having other issues covered up sister. I quit letting them dictate anything about how I feel about myself way last century.

My major might not have ended up being employable but the other things I learned in college were great. I was in astronomy when Jupiter got hit by a comet and my geography class went on a real gem hunt and you got to keep what you could find :)

lol!
My 66 year old mother is going to be happy to find out that she is not a grown up since she has plushies!

yup

I find those who still play with toys and embrace their inner child tend to be a lot more fun to be with than the stuffy adults who look down their noses at everyone. I hope I never grow up!

Just lost a bid on ebilbay for a book that I can only describe as my holy grail: EYVIND EARLE The Complete Graphics. I could only barely afford to bid $50 and it went for $69. It usually sells in the $300 range. *wahhhh!*

And just to add to the conversation: Have had TY plushies since the 90's, all sizes and didn't start collecting dolls til a couple of years ago, in my late 50's. Yeah, I'm a card carrying senior adult and I play with dolls. You can grow old, but you don't have to grow up.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Plushies aren't even a people thing.

The best thing is stuffed and plastic children don't do sh*t, think about that.

Maturity is doing the right thing even when it's not personally advantageous. Maturity is telling the truth when a lie would be easier. Maturity is found in responsibility for oneself and in one's respect for others. The idea that maturity is only gauged by the possession of things like dolls or plushies seems to me to come from a rather immature worldview in and of itself.
