That is not a bad price and being a pre-order you can reserve now but won't have to pay until it comes in. I've dealt with this website before and they're great.

Enabler! Teehee! I'll see how I feel about it when it's in stock - I like Entertainment Earth, but even a few years ago their shipping was often more than the item - and that was before the massive hike in International Shipping costs (or rather US to abroad shipping costs mostly...)

Edit: Ok no... Even with conversion rates $33USD shipping on a $20 item is a bit much! Especially an item that weighs as little as this guy - I'll just admire her from afar

EditEdit: ...It's just gone midnight... And I could murder some scrambled eggs right now... :?

Another random thought... (Apologies double posting again)

Roughly where in America do you think the Earth scenes were supposed to be set? As an uneducated Brit, those pretty wooden houses with the big verandas, and the shop fronts in the rain always made me think South to New Orleans (No idea why though!) Though all of that green and very British weather is making me think New England

Edit: Well that explains why I thought New England: http://thetreviowl.wordpress.com/

The park in the opening scene is in the UK

Edit2: Aw... And the rest of it is New York: http://labyrinthlocations.blogspot.co.uk/

That's a little um, well headcanon is now in a muddle! I'd always thought that Sarah + Mum + Dad had lived in NY and then Dad + Sarah moved down south when it was clear that Mum was a flakey type who cared more for trying to make it by acting than her kids (imagining her always auditioning for Broadway roles but never quite making it, and then falling for the male actor/Bowie in a tiny production and running off)

In the US I'd say check Hot Topic stores for a plush Tard, I don't know if they've made it to the UK yet.

Shop fronts and rain are all over the place here, you'll have an easier time dating when a place was built than where. If a developer wants they can invoke the feeling of somewhere. Rain can come from a hose. A place like New Orleans would have had some establishing shots with distinct buildings and things that would be unmistakeable as New Orleans. New York as a state can vary from the developed Long Island and coast to the more rural inland areas. Cannon wise they could have stayed in New York state the whole time or a near by area. To me the area says they have a good amount of money and they are in a safe and prosperous area where her upbringing might be a bit sheltered and naive. There are people who live in Connecticut and similar areas but take commuter trains in to the city. Your idea of mom left behind in the city can still work out then.

I'm starting to think I fall in love too easily. Just today I saw a lovely boy and I couldn't stop staring at him. I was like "NO! I HAVE TOO MANY OTHER CHARACTERS I NEED DOLLS FOR! GILBERT,GENEVIEVE, ADOK, RHYANNON, DOCTOR JACOB SMITH, KENNY, AND THE TWINS! DON'T FORGET THE TWINS!"
And he was like "Slow your roll, I'm not a limited edition, just add me to your wish list."
And I was like "Oooooooooh, okay!"
and we all lived happily ever after.

I'll keep an eye out - but I doubt they'll make it to the UK, except maybe some specialist shops like Forbidden Planet

SpiralPrince: Boy do I know how that feels - my box full of floating heads is somewhat proof of that... Not to mention the terrible and huge "wishlist"

I can see why you thought "New Orleans" rather than upper New York State. As a Brit, when you think "New York," you think of New York City. Upper New York State is full of small towns that were built up from about 1820-1900, about the same time that New Orleans was built up; ie, Victorian and American Gothic style. The big difference is in the exterior decoration; in New Orleans, exterior decoration is almost exclusively done in wrought iron because of both the damp and insect problems; wooden "gingerbread" wouldn't last very long down there. In upper New York State, the exterior decoration is carved wooden "gingerbread."

Most New York City expatriots go north rather than south; up into the state itself, or farther north than that, just as former London dwellers generally don't venture farther away than Wimbledon. The culture shock isn't nearly as great, not to mention the heat.
