Next time have the people leave dirty body stink laundry for the cat or leave their bedding to smell like them. I could always find one of my very attached cats in the dirty clothes.

It's hilarious to hear some of the sounds they make when they swear at each other, though. Just from our five-now-four I have heard some of the most interesting chirps, trills, grumbles and squeaks I can imagine. Each one's voice is very distinctive, too- a cussing out from Sarah Jane sounds entirely different that one from Domino.

Actually, Jilly is a little black shadow who hides from everyone except 2 people: my sister and me, hence my sister's request to come up and house/cat sit. (This really pisses off my sister's cat-loving daughter who rarely even sees Jilly.) Apparently, her protests yesterday were over my non-regulation lap space. My sis has an Ipad and Jilly on her lap as Ipad prop is a regular morning routine. I am a bit visually impaired and have a 17" laptop which takes up too much laproom. I have offered a shoulder which, while uncomfortable to type, appears to be an acceptable compromise as she is purring in my ear.

I hope this isn't going to continue into the afternoon when I plan to sit down and do some more editing on ms I want to submit. Today's suck is why does my muse want me to write either 2 page kid books or 150,000 word epic novels and nothing in between ?

The landlord came over and patched the roof. It now leaks in new places. I have buckets in the living room. The landlord can't immediately fix the roof because he is a temporary landlord because the property is tied up in his mother's estate. The estate lawyer has to approve all repairs. Since the property will go to the brother of our landlord, no one BUT the temporary landlord seems interested in the bad roof. We have lived here for 10 years now. My husband wants to move. Keeping Laz in the same school district will be interesting because this is such a rural community. There is NOTHING to rent right now and the houses for sale need a TON of work. I can't imagine buying a house for $85k and it needs new plumbing, wiring, roof, siding, no basement (think tornado alley), no garage AND built in the 1960s. The newest home, 2 bed/1 bath was only 1000sq.ft. Two boys living at home plus myself and hubby? I think I am going to run around screaming for a bit and cry.

Absynthe, check your state tenant/landlord laws. You may be able to withold your rent for a serious repair issue like that and that tends to make things move faster when they aren't getting their money.

We can't figure out where the leak is. Four different people have looked at it. Otherwise, I would.

I can do that but I was talking to my brother-in-law who is an estate lawyer. He told me that getting big ticket repairs approved is a nightmare, especially if family members are squabbling over the estate. Considering this family owns 1/4 of the town and 50% of the surrounding farmland, it is guaranteed that certain members of the family are throwing snits. I may have to see who he could recommend to us for a lawyer. Not to sue the landlord but to protect us financially.

you might be better off just putting tyvek over the whole thing for now then. I don't think its terribly expensive, but it might be worth not having drip pans everywhere.
