What part are you finding confusing? I have written out the instructions the way I would do for myself to make this. I mentally do this when I read through pattern instructions, and usually write it out before I start. I hope that helps. I haven't tried to do this one, although I have planned to. I think I would have to do a couple tests to get the size right.
Round 1: Chain 6, connect into a loop
Round 2: Chain 4 (counts as 1 double crochet, chain 1)
Double Crochet, chain 1 eleven times into the center previous round and connect to the 3rd chain of the chain 4. 12 stitches
Round 3: Chain 4 (counts as 1 double crochet, chain 1)
Double Crochet, chain 1 into the next chain 1 space on the previous round. Double Crochet, chain 1 twice in the next space. Repeat this three more times adding one Double Crochet, Chain 1 instead of the Chain 4. Connect to the 3rd chain of the chain 4 at the beginning of this round. 16 stitches
Round 4: Chain 4 (counts as 1 double crochet, chain 1)
Double Crochet, chain 1 into the next six chain 1 spaces on the previous round. Double Crochet, chain 1 twice in the next space. Repeat this, adding one Double Crochet, Chain 1 instead of the Chain 4. Connect to the 3rd chain of the chain 4 at the beginning of this round. 18 stitches
Round 5: Chain 4 (counts as 1 double crochet, chain 1)
Double Crochet, chain 1 into the next eight chain 1 spaces on the previous round. Double Crochet, chain 1 twice in the next space. Repeat this, adding one Double Crochet, Chain 1 instead of the Chain 4. Connect to the 3rd chain of the chain 4 at the beginning of this round. 20 stitches
Round 6: Chain 4 (counts as 1 double crochet, chain 1)
Double Crochet, chain 1 into the next 19 chain 1 spaces on the previous round. Connect to the 3rd chain of the chain 4 at the beginning of this round. 20 stitches
Round 7: Chain 4 (counts as 1 double crochet, chain 1)
Double Crochet, chain 1 into the next 19 chain 1 spaces on the previous round. Connect to the 3rd chain of the chain 4 at the beginning of this round. 20 stitches
Finish off the ends
