I regret telling him once how much a Minifee costs. He has not questioned the fact yet that suddenly I now own three but I'm sure he'll ask me about it at some point (new dolls don't go by him unnoticed LOL).

Yep ... he doesn't know the exact amount of a full doll, but he knows that SD heads go for about $100 and he kind of did the math from there. Then again there's Mirodoll with SD bodies for less than that, so ... oh I don't know. I guess a part of me feels guilty for owning four dolls but not having money for much else. Then there's the fact I don't have an income right now ... but the dolls were bought before that, I sold things and earned money to pay for them. -.- I just don't know why I feel I need to justify myself all of a sudden. -.-

I showed a few character Ideas and stuff to my friend and now I'm starting to think all my characters, stories, and yes, even my dolls are overly cliched. I mean really, how many times have you run across a spoiled trust fund brat who throws a fit when they don't get their way, a person who lost their entire species or tribe because of fear and then go to search for anyone who can help, a boy who was given too much responsibility too early and then turns into an antisocial closeted wreck, someone who has lost someone dear to them and swears revenge, someone who has killed in a fit of rage and fear and struggles with their humanity when they are not all human, an eleven year old gang leader who feels guilty because his involvement with his gang got his father killed, or a personification of death who struggles with the circumstances of their own death and are unable to let go of their humanity? Maybe I'm not as creative as I thought....

Just two words: Stories evolve. I'm speaking from experience here. The story my dolls' characters are from has been around for the better part of my life, I started "writing" it when I was 13. It's changed and morphed so much it's barely recognizable now (18 years later ), and while the characters retained their names and basic traits (sometimes not even that) and the general outline/setting remains, it's basically a different story. Some things can be toned down a little without changing the character all that much ... some things can be substituted with something a little less cliché.
What I'm trying to say is, don't beat yourself up over it. They're still your OCs, they're still your creations so yes, you are creative - they might be inspired by fantasy/general literature clichés, but maybe just see their current version/status as a starting point, and keep working with them. Characters have a mind of their own (especially the dollified ones *eyes her own*), they might just tell you where they want to go
