Well, look at it this way, I'm 45, live on my own and tell my parents as little as possible about my dolls because i know if they knew how much they cost I'd be disowned. Buy it, do it up, show it to them and when they ask the cost, try to not tell LOL.

I know it's weird to be 20 and asking permission still, but I'm the kind of girl who follows the rules, no matter what they are (unless they're really stupid/corrupt), and I always ask permission before making a big purchase (even if that "big" purchase was a $50 dress. Sad but true.). So it'd be kind of out of character for me to just go ahead and buy the doll.

I think I'll just respectfully tell them that I'm going to buy the doll. That's kind of like asking permission, right? LOL

At your age respectfully telling will work, especially for a healthy hobby.

I can completely relate. I'm 24 and living at home, and my mom still gets a kick out of me asking permission to go visit my bf in CT (even though I'd be driving myself in my own car with my own purchased gas, lol). I have two dolls on the way which are actually gifts from friends, and I'm terrified of my parents walking in and seeing them on my desk (they don't approve of the one doll I have, unfortunately).

But I think that respectfully approaching your parents is the right decision. Especially if they might have access to your bank account and might suddenly be wondering what this doll site you ordered from is (and wonder if it's fraud and might cancel the order, etc.) If you are responsible enough to be working and saving your own money for something you have your heart set on, they shouldn't have a problem letting you spend your own money. And they'll probably just be impressed that you took the time to speak to them about it first :)

Congrats on having a nice relationship with your parents! :D

My mom loves my dolls as long as I'm the one paying for them. XD
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. ;-)
