I found this awesome idea on Flickr yesterday of a little shelf turned into a bed:

And now I've got my mind set on creating something similar. I have found the most awesome little cabinet things ever on Marktplaats, a Dutch online flea market/garage sale, but I need to check if the sizes are okay. I can't wait to work on such a cute bed for my dolls...

That will make such a cool bed.

.....So, I hate sewing for 1/6. I've got one 27cm Obitsu, whose (admittedly ambitious) outfit has never been finished and he's been sitting around in what was essentially supposed to be underclothes ever since I got him.

And yet now I'm sitting here staring at the head and body that I think would work best for Link from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. And thinking over that how-to for the bodysuit, because I think one white bodysuit with the right collar would actually work better than a separate undershirt and leggings. And I could make him all three different tunics, because he'd only need one pair of boots and one set of accessories.

Unless I got really ambitious, and made a set in blacks and dark greys for Dark Link. Too bad only the regular male bodies and heads come in black...

...But I HATE sewing for 1/6! That's why poor Finrod has no clothes! But on the other hand, tunics are pretty simple and it doesn't need to fit tightly... :?

Aw man so many neat ideas in this thread.
I just got my first sew job (mostly) out of the way- a sweater jacket with an unfortunate collar, that still needs buttons. Might also line the inside edges with black ribbon, not sure yet.

NEXT I want to try either jeans, or an oxford style shirt. Maybe I'll just make some buttons first, though. And get my butt an iron. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO FAILING HARD~

hehehe... failing hard is a prerequisite for becoming awesome. :-p

Ivan's sock pants of horror are testament to my meager sewing skills.

Three years ago his majesty only had a pair of sock pants and goofy goth boots to his name. Micah was his only other dollieh companion and he was pretty jealous when Micah got two pairs of shoes, corduroy pants, and a hoodie. Those were dark times. It wasn't until a Christmas swap that he got a pair of jeans. *nods*

This is so true! I made 100 Hitty dresses that were glorified T-shirts made out of quilting cotton before I even tried a real doll dress pattern. :D :D

Trying to sew for 1/6 has certainly been an eye-opening experience. And by "eye-opening", I mean wide open with a look of fear and horror. It's bad enough that I'm new at sewing... but trying to do it at such a small scale, where being off 1/8" is the difference between good and bad... well, it's scared me enough that I might leave my 1/6s unclad until I get comfortable working on 1/3 scale for the SDs that are on their way. Samara, my Freya, is even a bit smaller than most 1/6s... and it's taken all my nerve and talent just for the simplest of tops. ;)

That is going on an index card taped to the wall behind my workbench. Immediately.

I love how you designed that almost as much as I love the quote. Can we have a printable version of that, please? Awesome, on both counts! :D
