My lady Jibriel is wondering where we could find a white hat to fit a 7-8" head so I can make her one of the white outfits in this video. Hats are something I haven't figured out yet.

17 inches of snow, although where my cousin lives in Illinois, she got almost 4 feet of the stuff! And my pregnant daughter is stuck in the house and I can't get to her today if I had to.

It actually looks like the hats in the video are straw hats with wide white hatbands. Little round topped straw hats are available at most craft stores, I think, but it may be tricky to find a flat topped one.

I am constantly amazed by the people who place posts to sell an old doll for as much or even more than a brand new, improved doll would cost straight from the manufacturer.... And is seems to be rampant right now!

Exactly why should I pay more for a doll made in 2009 - with the old body - just to fund their savings for their next doll?! It's irritating because if they were rational and offered the doll for what it should be I'd probably seriously consider it.

But don't you know? They touched it and now the doll is special. Like having to pay extra because it's designer crap because a "designer" spit on it.

It's a squarel and it's dead... I cleaned out all my latest doll making attempts and now need to figure out a way to make the balls I need for joints with pre industrial revolution technology. I can't really use wooden beads in the final parts because the only means I'd have to cut string channels end up splitting the balls. :/ Even if I hinged parts I'd still need balls elsewhere.

And my attempts were too thick, it made the test Littles look like they needed to do some exercise.

When I first joined the hobby I was told by a number of people that dolls don't really depreciate all that much in value. If the doll isn't damaged or hasn't yellowed it should still be worth close to list price. It's worth what it's worth. If it isn't broken, why should it be worth less? There's no real rule on what a second hand value should or shouldn't be, it just depends on what the free market will bear.

This was my lunch hour :

I felt better after getting out of the office. I *really* need to do this more often.

Plans for the weekend? I'll probably end up making myself a peasant skirt. I hope that 6 yards is enough material.

Close to IT'S list price - not more than the price of an updated, brand new doll costs now. Seriously, I checked. There are at least 2 dolls with old style bodies priced above what the same doll costs new. There's also someone trying to sell a doll that has damage for the same price as a new one without damage. I've also seem people up the cost of their new doll to include the shipping they paid and then charge for shipping to the buyer. (I suppose if you want the doll enough to pay $50-$75 more so you don't have to wait 3 months, it's worth it, but it really irritates me because it's something I would never do.) And those are just dolls I was interested in enough to look at.
