Now taking guesses about what I've got on my hand...

Looks like clay to me. I use to do sculptures with my art class and my hands looked like that after the hour was up.

Now you've mentioned polishing - your hand looks an awful lot like mine do after I've been polishing up samples embedded in bakelite for microscopy...

Ding ding ding! Nella wins! It's the black version of Plus clay which I found at the store. Outside of having a powdery finish and occasional cracks in drying it's proven useful with doll making. That's the results of rolling around shoulders and hips for my sample Wiggle. It's easier to work out the kinks with air dry, which heals easier, before going on to polymer. I haven't put a finish on it yet so I don't know if that would make it dark again but the grey color is what it dries out to.

~sigh~ Dolly-shopping time again...

Either that or slap a skirt on him and call it done.

I was gonna guess a giant metal spider, but I guess that's actually behind your hand, huh? XD

The metal spider is a basket I found a few years ago at a junk store. The spider is the handle and the web between its legs is the basket part. First it was a tiny doll bed but it's been great for drying doll parts. I'll stick the parts on knitting needles and balance them in and on the basket.

That's terribly enthralling. I would never have guessed that such a mashup existed but then that's the Internet for you.

It's worth it when they're good like the Helter Skelter Whole Lotta Love mix or Staying Alive Another Brick in the Wall. It's an art to do a good remix or remake.
