She's since passed, but one of our dogs was a rescue and had clearly been abused. She was such a sweetheart, but was extremely flinchy and would cower when she heard loud noises or if someone raised their voice, (whether angry or not). We simply acted 'normally' around her and it got better over time, but years later she still would have the occassional sad whimpery moment. We just cuddled her when that happened and told her she was good, (which I think lead to her playing the 'aren't I saaaaaaad?' card a few times just for attention XD)

The first dog we got as a family was a 10 month old rescue and as many of you know it didn't turn out well (Cody became stranger aggressive, possessive and eventually badly bit my daughter's nose and had to be put down). Tucker, our mini-Aussie was bought from a non-pro breeder and has been a darling. Our newest addition to the family, Maddie, is a rescue and is still just a puppy so we are expecting her to be a wonderful part of our family.

Anyone ever mix polymer clay and air dry clay parts in a doll? They'll be 1/6 scale strung so they should work. ~how I wish I had the set up to make hinge joints~

In the process of prepping my WG Thomas head for his face-up. Much as I prefer neutral expressions on the dolls I feel that Havelock needs the raised eyebrow...

Edit: Ok - I really really need to redo Drax's faceup (too bad he's not in this flat...) with the way Havelock's is going Drax is going to get even more annoyed about it soon... Seriously the Thomas sculpt has contours to die for!

what kind of sad state of the world is it when mom tells me I might be able to get a job when I lose 20 more pounds. not add more education or add more skills, but to be skinnier.

It's the sad truth for a lot of places if you have to deal with customers... :( They'd rather have a 'pretty, skinny' person then someone of the right weight for their height or larger...

There was an ice cream parlor close to where I used to live, employing only pretty, skinny, completely clueless girls. We stopped going there in the end because those girls couldn't get one single order straight and kept messing up or forgetting stuff. We decided to leave when we found out they had put liquor on my 3 year old goddaughter's pancakes. -.-

Well, the "default" banana pancakes did have liquor on them. We ordered them without, and apparently they forgot over having to re-apply their lipstick or something. They probably didn't know which part of the order was for the kid. But it wasn't the first mistake with an order of ours and it still made me want to trout-slap them to last Tuesday.
