Can you root a...

Can you root a silicone doll wig cap? Or is there some other solution to making a doll wig with rooting/rerooting skills?

I know of sewing wefts to wig caps, I'm just curious if there's a non wefting solution.

You can glue hair to the cap or to a doll's head directly, or if you use a crochet cap you can pull it through the stitches and just tie it off at the base of the hair with thread. That's a lot of work too though. Not much better than rooting in terms of time. I usually just sew weft to a cloth cap. I don't like glue. I find it to be too messy for me. But it can work okay with mohair or fake fur from what I've seen. Wig making any which way is usually pretty time consuming. About the only thing that isn't is making fake fur cap wigs. I've never really been into those but if you don't want to sew much or root that's your best bet.

You can make a cap of silicone and then root it - Crystalinewings has been making awesome rooted wigs this way. She even did a short video:

That would be great because I can root and Gene, the Monsters, and Liv all wear the same size wigs so I was hoping I could do something about it. Being that there's soft rooting scalps for Blythe there has to be a similar idea for other dolls.

I've been thinking about this too! I actually already bought a silicone wig cap and rooting hair. I didn't get around to doing it yet though. I'll be following this topic closely :-D

It would be nice if she did post it publicly. I am totally curious!

I wonder if you could make a cap with some silicone mold making putty and have that work out? You'd need to wrap the head in something to have a little space in between the scalp and the cap for the hair-stitches to be, I would think. If something like that DID work, it would really help for odd-sized heads.

At the very least, the concept should be the same as it would be for a Liv/MH CAM/Moxie Teen wig since they're rooted hair on a separate wig cap base.
