Nevermind. Scratch the balloon thing, unless you could find one with an unprinted side, it won't work. I bought a cheap one from a dollar store and figured I could use the inside. The inside is dull. So I wiped at the shiny side with acetone to remove the design and the shiny part came off -_-

Such cute furniture! I love the armoire~

Real mirrors use a chemical reaction to adhere aluminum/silver to glass. Even if you do have a chemist shop that has silver nitrate nearby, you would still need a glass cutter to get the shape you wanted. Conversely, some people say that they can make a mirror using spray paint. Still, needs the glass cutter...

.....More or less useless, I know.

There is such a thing as mirror vinyl in the automotive industry. I haven't used it before, so I wouldn't be able to tell you if/how it works, but it looks shiny.....

edit: I've also seen mirrored gift wrap. That might be less expensive (and you could wrap gifts with what's left~~)

:o I just bought one!! haha, but then you just gave me an advice :>, don't use acetone XD. I wonder if rubbing alcohol would work? Also I didn't even think to check the dollar stores >.< I bought one from a flower store, oh well, It should be better..I hope. I'm just savouring the design of the balloon for a few days before I pin a hole in it :D

Hmm, I wonder. Is the chemical reaction you mentioned the kind schools use to experiment? I remember a friend having an experiment with a coke bottle being all silver and shiny from the inside. For the mirror vinyl, I might ask my sister if she knows this, if ever it's cheap also >,< and definitely research the gift wrap, it sounds awesome! Thanks!! :D

Aw crud. I tested out the rubbing alcohal thing. Rubbing hard enough to remove all the design also took out the silver. -_-

-_-. Water? I should pin a needle on that balloon soon. Maybe on the weekdays after work. Soon.

There's this tutorial that says to use aluminum foil, and the thin clear plastic that comes with picture frames. It says it's supposed to have a reflection...not sure how well it would work, but I figure it's worth a try! :)

This would be even cheaper than the balloon thing. My dad told me a trick to straighten out foil. He said to use a piece of cloth to straighten it. Maybe wrapping it around your finger and stuff. I will try the balloon and if I can find the plastic film thing I will definitely try this as well, Thanks~

It sounds like the school experiment is close to the specific reaction I'm talking about. It's a bit specialized and does use some rather unhappy chemicals, so I wouldn't suggest it unless you really wanted to make a lot of mirrors.

I also want to make a little correction to the spray paint suggestion -- I think the link I listed is talking about mirror spray, which is a metallic/mirror-like spray paint. I've never used it, and I've only seen a few photos of results, but it would probably be more mirror-like than the gift wrap suggestion.
