Sometimes just knowing what you are dealing with is a big help. Check and see if there are any of the American Diabetes Association offices in your area who can give you some advice. Depending on where you live, you can get some assistance while you are unemployed besides unemployment benefits. You've been supporting all those safety nets for people with your taxes...your turn for a hand up!

Evelien, I'm glad it all worked out well for you.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Also, GH, if you doctor is not forthcoming (and it sounds as not), talk to your pharmacist. Having worked nearly 3 years in a pharmacy, I can assure you that they are very knowledgeable and most will take the time to go over what you need to know.

To be honest, it wasn't a complete suprise - I've suspected for a while and just refused to find out for sure. Fortunately I've done Atkins before - it's just crappy timing to have to change my eating habits when I'm so damn stressed out over having no job.

Especially at Christmas when you are surrounded by goodies.
*sigh*
Well..doesn't matter, the world is due to end in a few more days anyway.....

Zirconmermaid~the idea of snow sounds so lovely to me. California Girl's romantic vision of snow....

And agree so much with Kirahfaye. Pharmacists are generally extremely helpful and almost always willing to answer your questions, unless you go somewhere where they are really swamped and backed up. But at least at a smaller pharmacy, they are an incredible resource and often way more informative than your doctor.

well, the good thing about dieting is that if you get your weight down, you might not need any meds after a certain point.
