My very first grail doll was also my very first resin, my BBB Ariel, Aisling. I don't think I have a grail doll right now, though. I have grail ideas for dolls, just no dolls that fit the criteria.

I think I'll second this. I have lots of ideas then try to find the dolls to match. (and funds) hahaha

Well now I've got my Minifee girl on the way home. (Decided on Rheia) so now I think I need to come up with a new grail doll. :P
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

I posted a doll I already own without even thinking about it much. I later realized that I did that because I own all the dolls I used to consider grails. I don't have any grail dolls that I don't own, really...

Soom Sabik. That they no longer make. And whom resellers often scalp prices for. Rerelease, Soom? Please?
On the plus side, it's not hard to find Mecha Angel bodies for a good price.

Also, looking forward to pictures of your Minifee, Almy!

Edit: Actually, they still do make them! Just have to catch Soom on the rare occasion that they are selling him while I also have money.

I was looking at the Volks database website and re-discovered one of my grail dolls. Volks Super Dollfie Cute Renee. http://www.angelden.net/volks/sdc/renee.php She was released when I had been into BJDs for a little over a year. I love her faceup, sculpt and outfit.

She's one of the two Volks dolls to stay on my wishlist after so many years. I'll probably never get her due to the aftermarket prices and the difficulty of finding anyone who would sell that cutie. That's what a grail doll is for me. Something to look at and admire from afar, knowing it will most likely never be in your grasp. But a girl can dream!

Shinku_Rhapsody - if you're not too fussy about bodies, Soom is releasing a Sabik right now. You could buy just the head and search for a body later, or buy it with a Supergem body.

As for me, I'd said a holy grail doll is the Soom Benmore, but since I actually did put a layaway down on him, I guess he doesn't count anymore. If a "grail doll" would be something I'll probably never actually own, I'd have to say a CP Delf Elf Shiwoo. I'm just not willing to put down money for the ridiculously jacked-up prices that people are asking for even just the heads on the secondhand market. So, until someone is willing to sell at a price I'm actually willing to pay, never gonna happen.

Besides, I'm hoping that with Fairyland's release of their 60cm line, they'll re-release the elf Shiwoo down the road as a Nanuri or Juri event, or even a regular doll. I know I'd feel really stupid if I did spend $700 on a head and then all of a sudden it becomes mainstream to everyone else.

I don't know if buying only a head from Soom is even an option (though, maybe you have to send them a message to order that way). Even so, Sabik pre-order ends Jan 9th and the funds needed won't arrive until later in the month. Curses!
Anyway, I can wait. n_n
