Weekly DQ: #5

Postby Gift_in_Edge » Sat Nov 10, 2012 12:31 am

This week's Dollieh Question from our list. (viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6677)

5. Favorite way to display your dolls.

I have my closet cleared out and the doors removed. I've put some small waist high shelves in there for my dolls and action figures. My Yo-SDs have a wooden bench to set on and Rio, my SD, has his own wicked chair. Even my AG doll has her own place now. :)

My closet is my favorite place to display my dolls because I don't have to worry about direct sunlight and it's not a high traffic area like the rest of my room.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

I don't really have a favorite way, but I have mine sitting on my desk on a little shelf/cabinet, it's an ok bench. xD I like being able to look up at them. ^^

My favorite way to display them is to post their pictures on the internet.....
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

Mine are all set up on top of a dresser in my bedroom. I switch up their poses from time to time and who is holding who, but I really like the current set up. I like being able to see them all, even my floating heads.

I did the same thing that Gift-san did----use a closet. Since my room came with 2 closets, I use one as a regular clothes closet and the other, my father took the door/hinges off, and inside are all our cosplay outfits and my Disney doll collection.

Apart from the Disney closet, I like to have all our 1/6 dolls in curio cabinets. Right now, I have 6 huge (6 foot tall) curios and 5 small (2 foot tall or less) curios which contain dolls, all around my room. They're neat, dust free and look so nice and 'complete.' We never actually play or pose our 1/6 dolls, so once they're behind the glass doors of a curio, they're done/complete, and then we can just enjoying looking at them. ^^

My BJDs are atop my dresser. Somehow I have [18] 60-70cm BJDs standing or sitting on my dresser. 0_o They're nice to wake up to and stare at in the mornings---only thing is the top drawer is now hard to access, because of their legs all dangling in front of it! So I've switched the contents to things I rarely want or need. ^^

I have mine on bookcases that have backings to block the sun. I use all kinds of things to display them on otherwise. Block picture frames, acrylic cubes, doll furniture, doll boxes, whatever fits and is handy to make various levels with. It's pretty dark in my place though so I don't worry too much about where they are. Deliah, Dami, and Dahlia are on my sewing table which is on the other side of my bed. I'm still playing with those. Still haven't faced up Dami though. Too irritated to try again though I suppose I should. It's too horrible her being faceless...

All my kids live on two bookshelves in my bedroom. Cherry is usually with me when I'm at home. In fact, I just made a portable room box for her complete with craft-stick furniture so she can be comfortable in her own little space on my days off. :D

My dolls are sitting in my bookcase until I get the 1/4 dollhouse finished. For my 6" vintage Pamela Love dolls, I bought a glass cabinet from Ikea last week, I'll soon sort out my collection to see who goes.. the ones who get to stay, will be on display in that glass case ^^

Right now my 1/4ths are on my bedside table and the 1/3rd have the closest floor. The 1/6th have a shelf on a bookcase also wedged in the closet and the 1/12th house is in the corner beside the bookcase. My grandmother left me her Dolls of the World collection and her display hutches, so eventually (because we haven't figured out how to get them here) I will have those for all of my nicknacks and dollies.
