Weekly DQ: #16

This week's Dollieh Question from our list. (viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6677)

16. What do you think about dolls being in relationships.

None of my dolls are in one but I have no problem with others. It's more that their character is in a relationship then the physical doll.

I have two couples (and one would be in a relationship but I'm not sure I'm going to keep her). Noble (MNF Kyle) and Keheley (MNF ShuShu Elf) would be devastated if I ever broke them up. Mikah (DOI Camine) and Lorilei (Doll Family Ella) are not quite as close. They are devoted to each other, but neither seems as committed as Noble and Keheley. My Limhwa To-You Sara, Kirah, is supposed to be my RPG persona, and she's supposed to have Roho, my husband's RPG persona as her love, but I'm not sure I want to keep her .... :( Both couples are actually part of a story line (mostly in my head since I can't seem to get down right on paper).

So, as you can see - I have no problem with dolls in relationships!

I agree completely, I could never imagine thinking of my actual doll as "in a relationship" with another doll. However, if I was writing dolly fiction or doing photo stories, I could see it. It only bugs me when people make a big deal out of their doll relationships and make up weird emotional drama that effects them in thier real life.
Instagram makes me a better photographer, rite? LOLZ. Siggie under construction.

One of my Barbies is in relationship with my old Ken. Previously his girlfriend was another Barbie but then this girl came and he broke up with another girl. Now if only I could ind them names and make proper story... My Liv girls both have a crush on the same guy - Jake. But right now I'm not interested in doing their story, so right now they are stuck at being friends. xD
As for Sayuri, I have one boy in mind just for her. But first I need to get him. :D
Oh, and my friend's couple got married few weeks ago. ^^ So, I teased her about children. xD

None of my dolls are in a relationship. They're all just friends. :) I wouldn't mind having dolls that have relationships but for mine they're just not happening at the moment :)

Mostly its a character thing that went on when they were plushie/action figurees/headspace character. And I'm just continuing what was established when i was writing fanfiction or headspacing

At current point I have 2 shipped and 1 canon character couples. 2 dolls who are in a relationship but their other halves have decline to be dollified at the moment and 1 OC doll who's husband maybe joining in as the 1/3 version of himself while she remains 1/6

I also don't have any reason to put my existing singles in a relationship since the prior version(plushie/actionfiure/headspace) of them are not suppose to be in a relationship at current point

If anything the dolls consider coming here as a working experience and don't mind if their other halves aren't joining in since some of them don't think it as important.

All my dolls are in some sort of relationship to the other dolls - friendship, love, marriage, parents and siblings. I love doing photostories with them and they all have their own personalities. Mostly it all revolves around Hazel.
It's all about Hazel!

Thus far the only one in a committed relationship is Rune, and he's paired with a friend's doll. But like Gift said, it's not the inanimate plastic that's in a relationship, it's the character inhabiting it. I think so long as there is a line drawn, and people know the difference, there's absolutely nothing wrong with dolls in relationships. I think something that a lot of people don't get is when doll hobbyist talk about their dolls as individuals, it's not the doll, it's the character they represent. Anyone who has ever done RP or written fiction should be able to relate. And those that can't just don't have enough imagination.

Most of my dolls are based off of characters in things I have written over the years. Like others have said, the relationships are between the characters, not between the dolls themselves, and it's good to play around with or act out parts of relationships that happen for the characters using 3D models. Sometimes it helps me picture interaction to just move my dolls through, say, a first meeting, and using the pictures of it to help me visualize what I'm writing (I'm a highly visual person).

That said, let's see....Of the dolls I have, Fox and Sinjin are in a relationship together, Sinjin and Ella are siblings, Ridley was created by Jack to protect Nell (who belongs to my best friend), Jack is in a relationship with my friend's doll Lucas, Ridley's in a relationship with Nell, Evienne is in a relationship with Myrddin, and they are the closest thing to parents Coralina's ever had.

That seems so confusing, lol.

I don't think much about it either way. My two dolls are sisters because that worked for the backstory that lives in my head. And I imagine that I will consider the future male doll in some kind of relationship with one of the sisters. That's about the extent of it.
Whatever I can make a photostory out of or whatever helps me decided which clothes to sew for which doll!
