I NEVER let my dolls get near windows, but those I bought when I first started, back in 2006, have already yellowed. It shows the most on the "white" skin ones, but eventually it happens to them all.

:( how bad is the yellowing then, say, for your dolls from 2006? like... are we talking... light beige... cream... home depot country kitchen... the bottom of a never-cleaned ashtray from 2006... or... what? xP it would help to see any pics... from you, or from somewhere online, anything... ^^; i'll take the best possible care that my doll won't yellow, but it would be nice to know what to expect... do you know where i could find some pictures that i could compare...?

By the way: I never keep the blinds/curtains open and i don't have the lights on almost ever (i don't need a lot of light to see, i have good eyes & can see with very little light ^^ I prefer it to be dim (you would probably call it dark), I don't really like bright light that much) do you think this will affect in favoure of my dolls yellowing more slowly...?

I don't keep my blinds or curtains open either - I live on the ground floor of an apartment complex and EVERYONE has to go past my living room windows to reach other parts of the complex. I value my privacy. Didn't seem to stop mine from yellowing, but then I do use light because i find it impossible to sew and do faceups in the dark :)

My white dolls are now a creamy color, but it does depend on brand as well. My Dollzone are more creamy colored than my Pipos Baha is - he still looks much more white. Personally I don't notice the yellowing in my other dolls much. Don't really have any comparison photos to show, unfortunately.

Thanks anyways... I guess i'll just have to wait and see for myself~! I mean, i'll get the dolls i want to get anyways, and since it's not something i can avoid... you just got me worrying :s but hey~! I think you helped me~! I was juggling between these two skin tones (same doll, but a choice in skin tone) and hm... now i think i should take the skin-colour one instead of the white-skinned one... then the yellowing might not be noticeable, right? ^^;

one more question, and thanks for your help: when the white skin yellowed in your dolls, does it yellow into what looks like a normal skin colour, or rather what looks like idk, old yellowed paper? x3 like, is the colour it yellows towards a natural skin colour, or not? ^^; this might also help me decide..!

It looks like the same color as premium vanilla ice cream - creamy yellow. Not really a natural skin tone color, but not freakish either...just creamy.

mmyeah, not really a natural skin colour... tho i wonder how it looks under body blushing, maybe not as... drastic? :s

humhumhum... i really like white skin on dolls, but maybe with resin dolls i should go with a more natural coloured skin (still light)? that way the yellowing won't show as disturbingly even after a few years, dontchu think...? ^^;

you were right about the tips&tricks tuts, i learned so much already :D things i didn't even think about ^^

Blushing only adds shadow and some color to a resin doll - it will not totally cover the color of the resin so you can still see the yellowing. Short of finding some sort of resin friendly white spray paint that never chips or wears off (which basically doesn't exist) your doll will yellow. As I said though, it will depend on the type of resin and the company. Your best bet is to find other owners of white dolls from the company you are looking at, and ask them about their yellowing issues.

As I understand it, most dolls "mellow' more than yellow. Don't expect your doll to turn orange or anything. I'm not as protective of my dolls, I'm afraid. I took my semi-hard to find Beauty White skinned Fairyland Minifee ShuShu Elf on vacation with us last fall and just a couple of hours out of her doll case for photos produced the infamous green sheen that white skinned dolls can fall prey to. It doesn't make me love her any less though. I just try to keep her away from green clothing! :D

Thankies ^^ and ew & greening D: that's horrible :s I really think i'll go with the skin coloured one... i really don't want to risk my doll turning green/whatever :s not that i have anything against green (or blue, or purple) skin, it's just... well, it wasn't green originally, so it shouldn't turn green either~!

i'm a little less worried about the yellowing tho after deciding to go with the non-white skin and after reading that the yellowing is inevitable, sunlight or no light~ if it's inevitable, and it's not so bad as i first feared, oh well... i'll just go with it x3

I'd heard that the 'Beauty-Green' phenomenon was due to CP putting an additive in their resin in the attempt to circumvent the 'yellowing' process. o.O;;;

Haha - I wouldn't be surprised, Kiki! I'm not sure what year my ShuShu elf head was produced - I want to say 2008, but I'd have to look it up to be sure. According to the previous owner her body was from 2009.
