Oh yes. Crying and explosive language (in English AND German) is pretty normal when I sew. This is my first 1/6 dress that has a "complicated" bodice...more complicated than a strapless dress with darts in the front for the...ahem...boobage. I'm also really good for using my fingertips as pin cushions, too. Every now and then with this dress, I ended up putting the needle UNDER my fingernails. Hand sewing pearls and roses and I are NOT good friends. lol! I'm really glad you think it's amazing, though.

*does happy dance*

Under your fingernails... ouch. Well... I'd say this dress was definitely worth the effort and the blood, sweat and tears ^^

My Louis is a 1/6 Volks EB-N in white with a Monique Barbet wig, he's usually bald. He's based on Robbie Sheehan's (Nathan in Misfits) Louis XIV in the short lived series Young Blades. He was my first custom that I sought a specific body for so in a way he started my website.

His buttons are seed beads so I know the feeling of sewing them on by hand.

Yup. It's not that odd of an occurrence. The same thing happens when I use my tiniest crochet hook.

Monique has some seriously cool wigs. That really does fit him. I've never seen Young Blades. :/ I used to weave with beads, brick stitch and peyote stitch. I can't do it any more. My hands shake too badly. He looks great, though. That outfit...wow. Amazing.

You aren't missing anything by not seeing it, the best part is Louis declaring the first French kiss. His stockings are from people stockings and the waistcoat is reversible so it doesn't have to be lined.

If you really want some pseudo French court costumery check out The Slipper and The Rose with Richard Chamberlain. There's some authentic historic justacorps and pannier patterns online too but at this size you need to cut down on the amount of fabric. All of Louis' stuff is cotton and broadcloth to keep it thin.

I like pseudo French court costumery. Those dresses and suits for men were just amazing. I'll have to search out the patterns to see what I can do. I did find a Barbie pattern that is a Southern Belle but it's close enough to some of the dresses that Marie (Kirsten Dunst) wore in Marie Antoinette. There was also a Barbie pattern that I found that would suit Queen Elizabeth I. Thank goodness for a scanner and programs where I can adjust the sizes. Now I'll have to watch The Slipper and The Rose. I really like Richard Chamberlain.

Supposedly there was a study that said people who burst out their expletives and released their anger had less heart trouble later in life cause they don't let the emotions sit and build. If THAT is the case I should be doing juuuust fine. :-p

I can't complete a single craft without a healthy dose of fussing and fuming. And oddly enough, sometimes I say sheizen (sp?) which I'm told is German. Who knows, I probably sponged it off someone.

She is probably one of the most interesting dolls that I have. Her wig...wow. I don't think I could ever accomplish anything that detailed. Thank you about the dress. I may try my hand at making another one.

I've read studies like that. It's better to let it out than hold on to that anger. I should be okay in that department, myself. lol!

Scheisse! It's a good word to use! I tend to use that one a lot...and a few others that I won't put here. :o  It's usually when I'm angry with myself when sewing...or when film won't agree to go on the spool smoothly. (When I'm developing film and having a bad night of it, THAT'S when things get verbally interesting.) I don't mind the fussing that goes along with the hobbies I have. At least when I make a mistake, I learn something - either a happy mistake or the I don't want to do that EVER again category. ;D
