Resin = Plastic

General discussions about dolls, new releases, doll reviews...you know, stuff that doesn't really fit in all the other categories but is strictly about dolls.

Resin = Plastic

Postby Morgan » Mon Mar 05, 2012 12:04 pm

Resin. Polyurethane resin. It's plastic, folks! It's not clay or glass or solidified tree sap. Your dolls are made out of plastic. It's very nice plastic, but it's still plastic. If you want to look down on those plastic dolls, maybe you should invest in porcelain.

...ahem. Sorry. That's not actually directed at anyone here. I just happened to come across DoA's thread on Hujoos... you know, the ones that are virtually indistinguishable in their polyurethane and ABS incarnations, but off topic if they're "plastic" instead of "resin." :P

To all who read this topic:
We have already beaten this horse to death, back to life, and then into an equine-zombie form. So before this thread becomes a rant on the posting qualifications of any other forums, go back and read the old thread.

Then if there is actually something new to be added to the discussion, post away.

AND please remember the forum commandment: THOU SHALT NOT BASH OR RANT ABOUT DOA.

I've been having to lock an average of one thread a month due to violations and I really really really hate having to lock threads.

If resin weren't plastic it would probably mean dolls were porcelain. Who wants to play with a porcelain doll? Not me. Ivan face-plants too often. *snicker*

I think this thread should be a praise of all things plastic! Dolls! Tupperware! More dolls! Tumbler cups! Ink pen casings! ChapStick tubes! More dolls!

Now we just need doll sized sporks. Micah could go for a spork.

Without plastics, we wouldn't have computers of which to share the joy of Dollieh Sanctuary. :D
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.
