RIP: Davy Jones

Postby Greyhaunt » Wed Feb 29, 2012 12:47 pm

sigh...I know, this is a doll forum and music isn't exactly on topic - but I am so totally frigging bummed at the news I just learned. Davy Jones, the short cute british singer from the Monkees passed away this morning

He was my first crush when I was little and even older he could make my heart beat a little faster.

I loved the old TV show, own damn near all the actual LP records and even saw them in concert twice during their nostalgia tours in the 80s.

You really start to feel older when the stars of your childhood begin to pass away :( I think I'll have to warm up the turntable tonight and play some of those records.

Gah, I just read about this too. I'm so bummed out, I listened to the Monkees a lot with my dad when I was a kid. :(
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

The Monkees are one of the few things from my younger days I want to remember, good times with my sister and cousin. Got to see them in the 80s and still have the ticket stubs. Sing the songs, watch the shows, and remember the fun.

I spent a summer in the 90s watching and listening to nothing but the Monkees. I'm too young to have caught them when they were actually doing anything, but they still had a huge impact on me growing up. Very sad news.

I envy those who got to see them live. I, too, have the records and remember the show as one of my favorites. He can't have been all that old, it's really sad to hear about this.

I have many fond memories of seeing the monkeys on tv as a child. He will be missed.

What's even sadder is when the stars of your childhood pass away but they are too young to be passing away. But that's what happens when bad habits do them in.

I'm sad, too. I remember watching the Monkees when they replayed on Nickelodeon. Then later, when I was a DJ at a classics station I played their stuff all the time.
So sad. :/
