Practical Over Dollies

Postby Princess_Sarah_Em » Fri Nov 25, 2011 9:15 pm

So today I had to choose between getting a new HP laser printer for 19 bucks, which I need for work or getting either a Hujoo Baby Ted from JS's Black Friday sale for 19 bucks or a Spectra from Kohls who was only 16 bucks as gift from my aunt. Sadly I realized I had to be practical and choose the printer over my dollies. It's nice to have a printer but still... I wanted my Hujoo baby and Spectra is so rare.

*comforts* I know it was a hard choice, but I think you did pick the right choice. Hopefully later you can get the other two dolls.

Work is ALWAYS more important than dolls. No work = no dolls.

It sucks to have to pass up good dollie deals, but I think it's way better than being one of those people who gets fired/failed out of school/can't pay their bills because of dolls (or trading cards or cosplay or...) I figure, paying for work and school stuff is like an investment in future dolls. And who knows, you may end up finding an awesome deal on the dolls again in the future when you have the free cash.

Been there, anything and I mean anything including more than basic food for Thanksgiving and Xmas one year or a new hard drive for the computer a few years back. I've discovered every time you make a "sacrifice" for the better good it gets repaid. After the computer Xmas I got a really cool nearly impossible to find doll.

Yeah, it can suck. I had saved up $600 for a doll, but the TV died before I ordered her. Guess where the money for a new TV came from . . . I've yet to raise that much money again, though I did manage to find a couple of other dolls off the MP that I've wanted and were priced nicely. Now that I'm homeschooling my daughter full-time and not working anymore, it's more difficult to justify spending that much money.

Well, at least you have your priorities straight!

>_> I, on the other hand, often cut into my food budget to randomly buy things that I want. (Including dolls.)
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

While normally I would say the word Practical and the word Dollieh do not go together in this case I think you made the right decision. As VV said, if you don't work, you can't buy dolliehs at all. Ted will still be there, and yes, maybe more than he was on sale, but he'll still be there. I have no idea what a Spectra is so I can't comment on that one, but I've found that if one is patient and if you stalk the various online marketplaces then eventually you can find what you want at a screamingly good price :)

Spectra is one of the HTF overpriced Monsters, and remembering last year Ghoulia was impossible to find at holiday time then she was everywhere.

Bring practical is no fun when it means having to miss out on spiffy stuff.
