This happens fairly often with me. The whole back story of the characters my doll crew represent was supposed to be much darker and set in a near-future world following an event called "The Great Collapse". In the photo story I had started over at Junky Spot, you were supposed to gradually discover things about the world that were meant to be disturbing. I had a number of real life upheavals and technical problems (including my snazzy "pro-sumer" camera dying) so that by the time I was able to get back to the story in late summer 2008, world and national events had changed to the point that I decided that nobody would believe I had mapped out my story two years earlier. While I had based everything either on history or some forecasted trends I'd studied and even a number of fictional works, it suddenly seemed more like a comment on current events and prominent people who weren't even on my mind when I created the "world bible" in early 2006.

With a completely revamped back story, many of the characters changed or took on new roles. Some of the dolls and figures were recycled to play new parts. Claire, the apparent author of my blog Claire's Big World was originally supposed to be a secondary character that provided some much needed comic relief in what could have otherwise been a pretty bleak story. She was suppose to have an on-going antagonistic relationship with a character who has since been written out of the story and in general, she was much more of a "dizzy dame". Nowadays, she's a serious character but one who keeps a positive outlook. She's now the skilled and capable "plucky heroine" type rather than a dim-witted hedonist.

When TDM had this big clearance sale on Tonner last year I bought 4 Narnia boys at $20 a pop. 2 Peter, 2 Edmund. One of the Edmund dolls was supposed to be a new body for a doll in the Potter series but he has yet to become that. I re-wigged them all to give them a more updated look and I did a bit of repainting to make them look older. But my one Edmund he had a very particular idea of what he wanted to look like and it wasn't anything like a teenaged boy. My one Edmund he looks for all the world like a young MacGyver. The other one he looks like a dark completely stoned out version of Micheal DesBarres in his worst grungy rocker phase. Same doll, but two totally different characters. He's not evil this doll, but he sure looks like he'd be trouble with a capital T.

Jouselle had a very hard time developing. The first head wanted to be Lady Gaga. She's in storage. The second head was very grumpy and mean. I threw that one out. The third one's been much better. :) We're getting along great.

Grey, does this mean I need to give Omi a goatee? XD

====================

I.... just don't really try anymore.

Omi was supposed to be sweet, kind and gentle.

Erik was supposed to be Seiki's resin upgrade.

Seiki has gone from being vinyl to resin, and decided that he wanted to be a DZ Hirry instead of a Wilka.

Nanjiro decided he didn't want to be an MSD, and grew up... but still friggin' pretends to be tiny.

Korin was originally Akito.

Kijin grew older, and got a sister (Tenkou).

Tenkou was supposed to be shy, sweet and reserved.

Mamoru was supposed to be a resin/vinyl hybrid, but swiped a vinyl head.

Niko wasn't supposed to be dumb as a box of rocks.

Kojiro was gonna be sold.

and Yukiko was supposed to be a BOY.

As I said, I don't even bother trying anymore. ^.~

Cordie started out as a tomboy on a 23 cm child body and had very little to say for herself. Now, she is a girly girl who totally rocks an 11cm obitsu body and I was recently greeted by a new member on another board with- "Oh, you're Cordie's mama." She is the kitten that owns my camera.
Ororo is on her 5th wig and 4th set of eyes and is finally finding herself as one of Cordie's partners in crime.
Regan was supposed to be a tiny Rozen maiden Pullip-and went Steampunk on me. Sunako and Kyohei were supposed to be 25cm and 27cm obitsus-but came to life as Bitty Bitsus instead.

Elodie was supposed to be a pink girly girl, and i wasn't far off since she's pink lily themed, but she's like "nope, clothes are too cutesy and the wig sucks. Now go make me some elegant dresses and make them well. And get rest of the crew, aka like 5 others." She also grew a whole entire story for herself and the aforementioned crew.

Oh yeah, all of my characters in my stories act like they're dolls too. As in growing a mind of their own and insisting on a certain look. It's gonna get worse when I decide to actually turn them into dolls as well.

Maybe it's just my overactive imagination sprouting stories out of everything I see XD
The ever growing wishlist: Hujoo Dana, Obitsu 40, and an army of other Obitsus with anime style heads.
The more expensive end of my wishtlist: Limhwa Half Elf and Elfdoll Soah, my dream dolls.

Nah, you're not imagining anything, in fact I'm pretty convinced they party whenever I leave. I have a whole area in one room that's shelved in. Pets can't get to them at all. We don't have a lot of traffic on our street. It's really quiet most of the time, and yet when I come into that room in the morning those doll have inevitably swapped arm positions or whatever. They're probably telling you all these stories while you sleep to amuse themselves. It's all subliminal, lol.

There was one time I opened my doll cabinet and Vespera's top was down... Now it could've just been gravity and the fact that I had the window open or something, because it's a strapless top... but it was just so random...

Also, Clover can't stick to one eye color for very long.
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

Drop a video game character from a list of characters that I wanted made. Character came in at the tail end of my interest in the game (too much game play changes) and i never use her before.

So one day I was testing wigs on a blank S/Nano-Gretel head (for a well used character from the game) and put a spare blue wig(for cosplaying some other character) on said head. BAM! Kula Diamond happened and refuses to leave. She won't give me back the head, she won't consider coming back at a later date. This head didn't even have eyes. Eventually I gave up an let her stay. And somehow she seems to be working really hard and paying me back.

The only other time that a character tries to steal my heads was when I was painting a Slim Male 02, Neo goh 2 and 3. That character(Balrog/Vega of Street Fighter) managed to get sent off each time
