Your cheapest doll?

Postby DollyKim » Tue Oct 04, 2011 8:49 pm

This means head and body and eyes and wig if needed. If you traded for it the purchase price of the thing you bought and traded counts. (and not just some $1 thrift store Barbie unless ofcourse you've done something and made a character out of it)

My Gameitoy Dr J, who I named Dr Kermit Gibb because he has a nephew Robin. Cost $5. I repainted his hair and eyebrows from grey to brown.

I'm going to say Rio. I got his body at a meet for $15, his head and eyes from Junky Spot for $33, and his wig from Peachy for $5. So for an SD size doll I feel like his a steal. XD
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Ooh, I can play this one! (I'm so cheap that my most expensive BJD was on clearance, hah)

My loudest "cheap" doll is Luke, in that he had no character when I started and has become one of my top 5 OCs.
Thrift store Beach Fun Blaine head (Goodwill, $2), originally on a spare 1999 Ken body but recently moved to a super-articulated Joe body, which was either $3 or $4. (I had a few and the pricing was inconsistent on them.) So... $5 or $6.

Wes is an honorable mention there. Since he was one of my characters to begin with he's one of my favorites.
Head (some HSM Ryan + apoxie) was in a $4 dollar bag of 3 dolls at Value Village, so I'll say $1.30. Body was the first super-articulated Joe I got during the Goodwill X-mas sale, so $1. That makes him $2.30.

Then there's my cheapo BJD-like... $1.30 Liv at Goodwill. The wig was a gift from my sister, a $5 wig from a doll show that didn't fit the doll she bought it for. But to be fair I'll include it in the price. So she's $6.30.

Where did all these 1/6s come from?!

Not counting my anime dolls (most of whom I don't know the exact price I paid for them anyway, because I got them in ebay lots) or dollar store dolls that I only bought to steal clothes for my Obitsu babies, that would be either:

my Bitty Bitsu, Alex, $19.99 plus shipping for her body, head mugged from an anime doll I already owned, clothes all handsewn by me or mugged from dollar store dolliehs.

OR

Nerisa and Lamia, (Volks EB) who I got together in an ebay lot for $20 plus shipping (which would make them about $10 each for the bodies which had heads included) but I had to buy wigs for them, which would probably bring their total cost about even with Alex.
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

My Liv girl at $13. And the ponies at $5.
The ever growing wishlist: Hujoo Dana, Obitsu 40, and an army of other Obitsus with anime style heads.
The more expensive end of my wishtlist: Limhwa Half Elf and Elfdoll Soah, my dream dolls.

All those Liv girls I bought to steal their outfits and wigs and then gave to Gift_in_Edge would probably be mine.
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

The title used to belong to my $120+shipping from China Impl Jasper, but I got a Cocoa Hujoo this summer. He was, I think, $40+shipping?
