I haven't been evacuated yet, but currently in Texas some people are evacuated from areas because of huge grass fires. Could we have some of your water?

The Pittsburgh area is currently fine but the ground is pretty saturated and we're supposed to get more storms tonight and tomorrow so we'll see. I know a lot of events have been canceled or postponed. Also friends near creaks/rivers aren't doing so well. Luckily I'm on top of a very large hill but we'll probably have more power outages and the shifting ground keeps causing water main breaks. My neighborhood has had three that I know of in the last few days. I hope everyone on the eastern side of the state is safe and doesn't have too much damage to deal with.

I had a hell of a time getting home from work the other morning. Every major roadway I tried to take ended up being blocked off at some point or other, due either to flooded rivers or just being flooded due to low ground. It took me almost two hours to make a twenty minute drive home. Most of that was sitting in traffic. And, of course, being redirected because of people who were SURE they could drive their non-SUV cars through the middle of roadway lakes and not get stuck (flaming idjits, every one of 'em, especially the ones driving through the lakes where even SUVs would get stuck).

I now have a new appreciation for my little Grand Vitara, which DID make it through some of the smaller roadway lakes. I also have a new sympathy for rats in mazes. I have a complete understanding of what they must go through. ^^;

Anyway, no flooding in my basement, thank goodness, because that's pretty much my living quarters. My friend's parents didn't fend so well. Their finished basement was completely flooded, so they'll be having to throw out a lot of stuff. Also, my brother's family ended up stuck because they live across the street from a river and that thing always floods, shutting down pretty much the entire road. They were getting water in their basement, but their basement is practically a medieval dungeon so not much to worry about there.

Oh, and in Zoo America at Hershey Park, the two Buffalo had to be shot, because their area was flooded, they were drowning, and nobody could get to them to save them. They were forced to euthanize the poor things to keep them from suffering. ;_;

Sorry to hear about the wild fires Jobee. My mind powers are failing me at the moment. I had enough sense(or panic, I'm not sure) to grab Victoria. She's chilling with me on my friend's couch. I'm pretty sure I'm completely nuts but I'm sewing clothes for her and it's taking my mind off of worrying about my mom(in the flood plain, can't reach her) and the place I used to lived floated away(my trailer) and hoping the place I am staying is still going to be there. And to top it off, one of my friend's is getting married. In a town that has been declared a disaster area. I can't make this up. I'm not sure weather to laugh or cry...or play the flute, lol.

I got so lucky this time around. Most of the rain tracked JUST south of my area (nw corner of Potter co) and seemed to have avoided upstream of the creek running just a hundred feet from my house. I got flooded last Dec 2nd, so I'm very glad that didn't happen again. I feel sorry for everyone east of here though.

I remember when the carpets started floating what a panicked feeling it was. And wading out to the road (the upper end of my driveway and that part of road is out of the flood range) with the cat carrier on one arm and a bag of clothes and stuff on the other, through thigh deep MOVING water... very scary. Next time I'll just stay put, going up into my loft would be safer than trying to leave, especially since water goes over the road to both sides of the house... my car wouldn't make it out, a big one-ton truck came to get me.

I hope the deities of weather get the rain going where it is needed... and lay off the areas it's not.

I'm so sorry, everyone!!!!!

I just can't believe it's flooding there!! And in NJ! We used to live in both those places, so I know the areas really well and it's just incredible to me that it's happened! When I hear the news, and it goes from Paterson, NJ flooding (I used to live in Clifton/Montclair) and then right after that the news heads to Pennsylvania, with news flooding in Wilkes Barre and Kingston (I used to live in Tunkhannock and went to school in Dallas!) and in Binghamton, NY (also close-ish to where I lived), it's just really terrible to hear! I keep seeing those roads and familiar places and hope and pray everyone is safe and not in danger. I keep thinking of our friends and relatives and hope they're all okay!

Roguewolf-san, Stormlight-san, I pray you'll be out of this terrible situation soon! You're being so level-headed and calm about it!!! Good for you!!! Keep safe and we'll be praying for you and your families!

God bless you!

My immediate area should be fine. There will be rain again today and tomorrow. It's been wet for awhile, but no horrible downpours. You guys in the east keep safe.

Most of the flooding around my area had gone down by the end of the next day. I had no trouble getting to work on Thursday night because the rain had stopped that morning. It's bright and sunny this morning. I plan to go out and get some much-needed shopping done.

Now, I HEARD that the Susquehanna River is supposed to crest over the weekend, which I'd assume means the flooding isn't actually over yet, but I don't know anything beyond that. If it's supposed to rain or storm again, it hasn't reached Lancaster yet.
