ART OF THE DOLL call for entries

I received an email today from Gerri Olsen, who is the head of the Psych Department at Sonoma State University here in California. She is very interested in dolls and teaches a class about the psychology of dolls. She is co-curating an exhibit called "The Art of the Doll" and wants to include representation from the BJD community. Here is a bit of the information:
CALL FOR ENTRY Petaluma Arts Council

Art of the Doll: Protection, Healing, Power & Play

Accepting original artist dolls in all media, including cloth, paper, polymer, metal, wood and
combinations of innovative materials. Explore the potency of the doll as an instrument to convey
meaning, emotion, personal or social narrative, self-portrait, fantasy and play. This exhibit supports
a wide variety of styles and media, while addressing the significance of the doll, from ancient to
modern, faerie world to gothic, sacred ritual to child’s play.

Petaluma Arts Center. The first train depot in Petaluma was constructed in 1871. The Petaluma Arts
Center, now located in the renovated baggage depot from that era, is home to the Petaluma Arts Council
and the G.K. Hardt Gallery – a large, well-lit exhibition space. The newly renovated Center also includes,
Gallery II, classrooms and PAC offices.

Juror: Carol Austin. Carol Austin retired as curator of the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Folk Art
and remains a working artist.
Curator: Geri Olson. Geri Olson, Ph.D. is a professor and chair of the Psychology Department at Sonoma
State University. She teaches in the areas of creativity and expressive arts and directs the Doll Project, a
program that integrates art into the K-12 curriculum.
Co-Curator: Greer Upton. Greer Upton has been a consultant, designer and juror for professional gallery
exhibits for over 30 years. Her work in diverse media has been shown nationally.

Exhibition Calendar:
! Monday, May 10, 2010 – Deadline for all entries.
! Monday, May 24, 2010 – Notification of acceptance.
! Thursday, July 1, 2010 – Delivery of shipped work.
! Thursday, July 8, 2010 – Delivery of hand-delivered work.
! Friday, July 16, 2010 – First day of exhibition.
! Saturday, July 17 – Reception 4 - 7 pm.
! Sunday, September 19, 2010 – Last day of exhibition.
! Sunday, September 19, 4 - 6 pm and Monday, September 20, 10am - 4pm
Pick up of all work. No exceptions, unless arrangements have been made in advance to return
work via shipment.

When they said original artist dolls, does that mean you can only enter built-from-scratch BJDs?
