I hate to say that our best results with squeaks were with glue traps. Almost forgot about them because it was part of leaving the cr*p shack behind.

As for other projects I need 3 more squares to complete a hand sewn patchwork topper, then I want to get it a boarder fabric. I have several yards that I had bought to be the backing and the boarder but I think I want something more subtle. Will see if anything in the stash will work first. I am trying so hard not to buy the white frosting with sprinkles print because I want a darker fabric because it'll be handled by the edges more.

If peanut butter doesn't work, try microwaving it for about 10 seconds first, so it caramelizes a bit, then mix it with a little bacon.

It might sound cruel, but I'm going to have to resort to glue traps and peanut butter coated silica gel packets. I don't want to use straight up rat poison because of the cats, but something has to give. I figure if silica gel can kill a person, it can kill a mouse.

In all seriousness with glue traps if you don't think you can listen to the sounds that might be made by a caught critter then don't use them. You might also get some six legged critters.

Aside from the usual dark places (away from cat arms) the hood above the stove was another place we set a trap.

I'm fully prepared to listen to it at this point. I can't take it anymore.

Those sounds aren't as bad as the sound of them eating dolls and chewing on food canisters and walls. -Says the woman who once lived in an old house so infested with mice that they did so.
I am Tam. Tam I am. I like green eggs, but I don't like ham. :D

I tried linking one of my adopted click pets here, but the board wouldn't let me. :/

OK, you need live traps. Why? Because you don't need to reset them, and once the mice start finding them they will just keep following trails even to traps that are full of their dead kin.

For bait use microwaved peanut butter and cooked bacon crumbled into it. Put the bait in the middle of the trap. Put the traps down along walls under furniture, or where you know they have been eating things. with the openings placed where if they are running along the walls (as they do) they'll go into the trap openings. LEAVE THEM ALONE for at least three days before you check them. Checking the traps too often will keep the mice from going in. If you find live mice and you are too squeamish or kind hearted to kill them, you need to take the trap at least half a mile away before turning them loose or the mice will come right back into the house.

Ditto to what Misty posted. We had a couple of humane traps out a few days and one trapped our mouse overnight. It was the one my daughter's partner put out upstairs. They actually put a couple of glazed nuts in the trap, whereas the trap my husband placed in the kitchen had a non-toxic attractant that apparently didn't. LOL. Across from the entrance to our S/D is a 100 acre forest so we will let it go there.

I've tried humane traps already. It completely avoided them the entire week I had them set up.
