I didn't spoil my first big doll Shi Shi. He got a couple of plushies and some odds and ends but it was more about making clothes for him. A bit of spoilage came for Xavier, a bunch of things lined up to make him super special, but its usually in the form of something Halloween themed and he is very very picky. Did become a good excuse to get some novelty baking pans and candy molds, lol.

You pick a theme or some boundaries to try and stick within, the doll will be good about it. If you're going for Gibson Girl then aside from what you make her only buy things she would have actually had. There's a real lack of budget priced doll antiques.

We also had to replace both in the past 4 years so I feel for you.

It's more I want a doll that's big enough that I can actually make her accurate historical clothing, not necessarily JUST a Gibson girl. There in lies the concerning part.

Yeah, we had to redo the roof here before we moved in last year. The furnace seems to have a few more years left in it.

Picked up another of those photo/crafts boxes from Joann's to sort out my Barbie/Ken clothes. I have them all piled on the table right now and just need to decide how I'm going to fit them all in!

You can get started on smaller dolls in the mean time. The Susan Sirkis Wishbooks are quite accurate and she divides them into different eras. The First Ladies books have the longest timelines, others are broken down into several year style eras.

The fake China Head I made is just over a foot tall and her body comes from a Susan Sirkis Wishbook. The Doll book by Estella Ansley Worrell also has fairly accurate historical clothes 1600s-20th century for a cloth doll, pattern inside, that's just bigger than Barbie.

Those look so cool! I bet with a little paint to shade the food, they'd look pretty realistic.
