Ooh, Vetinari, which headsculpts are they? I know you mentioned something about Spike not too long ago.... I have the Sideshow Human Spike and I'm kinda hopeful that he's the one with the nice skintone under all that paint. Mine was 2nd hand and had a paint scuff right on the tip of his nose that, while we repaired it, we'd like to take down to the base and repaint. I'm too worried I'm going to scratch his paintjob to really enjoy him, and we have a thing about painted on skin. :D

Yep - I'm wiping the human Spike sculpt, the paint wasn't too badly hurt by the glue to be honest, just a smear on the back of his neck that would have been covered by his t-shirt if I'd wanted. But ironically, for all that the Human-Spike is my favourite of the three 1/6 Sideshow Spike headsculpts, I really really hate the paintjob the company gave it.

He looks especially out of place next to the other two sculpts who for the most part have a matte flat skin tone painted on. As opposed to the weird elaborate shading in all the wrong places that they felt the need to add in this case.

I'd say the paintjob actively hurts the excellent resemblance of the sculpt, before I wiped it he looked ...puffy from certain angles, which had nothing to do with the sculpt it turns out! I'm still working on unclogging his hair, but I've gotten most of the paint off of his face. Turns out this paint is pretty tough, I suspect it's that stuff that's toxic when wet since even with the excellent teatree oil advice I've been able to avoid wiping certain areas and am having a little difficulty with clearing surprisingly three dimensional hair!

Now that more of the plastic is revealed, the beige tone is a tad colder than the shade that Hot Toys tend to use, it's missing the reds so is a bit dull - once I've properly cleaned off the residue, and the sky goes back to sunshine around here I'll post a couple of skintone comparisons. I think he'll need a bit of tactical pastel blush bjd style to make him match the Hot Toys colours better.

I'm working on customizing Mira to make her my little cat-girl! I got my roomie's help with the small lines, but she has a faceup now. She has purple cat eyes. Next is giving her a haircut and making her tail. Then I'll put on the ears and she'll be done!

I restrung both today after finally getting both excellent weather for base-coating Quin and much better elastic for both. They're now strung with 5 and 6 mm cotton wrap, and they hold their poses better. The only downside was a foot hook went flying and I'm not sure which direction. Sweeping the floor revealed nothing, so now I have to replace. Fortunately, I could borrow one from another doll. Unfortunately, DDE appears sold out.

Making a dress for my new girl, River. Ripping the pinafore up for the second time. She deserves only the best!

I have this little tool I keep onhand (it's stuck to my metal bedframe so I don't lose it). It's essentially a magnet on an extendable metal stick like an old radio antenna. If you don't have one, you could try rigging up something similar with just about any decently strong magnet and a stick or dowel rod. Then use that to poke under all the furniture and little nooks and crannies and dark corners. If there's anything metal hiding (provided it can be picked up with a magnet), that'll get it.

White dove -- I have one. It came up snake eyes except for a few stray straight pins. The hook could be on any of the 70 shelves of books, under the work bench, in the snippets basket of tiny biodegradable trash, the paper recycling box, or the plastic trash... I didn't see the trajectory after it collided with the ceiling fan and both took a vector change and got a boost of delta-v. I will find it eventually, but... Learning experience. From here on out, restringing happens in a popup tunnel (aka laundry bag), or with a fishing line tether tied on to the little scamp.

I am working on a set of Fairy tale books for my tiny fairy, Richi. This is the first.

I've got my project with Link ticking along nicely when suddenly I think, maybe I should be making him on a smaller body. Maybe the 23cm, instead of the 27cm. I mean, Link is short in the games. Only I don't have a 23cm doll.

At least if I get a 23cm or something for Link I can repurpose his 27cm body as the Fierce Deity from Majora's Mask...I just made so much more work for myself.

Got Jane Austin (Empire) crochet Barbie doll clothes instructions to try. Up to a bodice and a sleeve. Doing it while writing so it's a few rows and a few paragraphs at a time.
