Ended up visiting the 1/6 action figure and parts toy store today and fell in like with Macgyver's head for looking like a meaner/badass version of Iplehouse Dexter if not Dexter Morgan. To think I've been avoiding said shop for a while

Had to tell myself let him be for the moment so that I could go check out if the Hot toys muscular body fits him.

He looks more badass than his company pic, unless someone modded him.

oh my gosh, i'm so happy for you! having that freedom ... i bet it feels amazing, doesn't it! i'm so so so happy for you! i just know things will keep getting better!

thanks so much! its like aaah... comfortable now.
the only bad part is I havn't drawn much since I started it because I actually feel like doing stuff like working in the garden and getting up and moving. which is probably why there's about 40 seedlings in my greenhouse XD

Good news- I got Stephan's head off the BBI body without having to use heat so his face-up is fine.

Bad news- The knob on the Ken body he could use is too fat to get the head on without heat. Now I need to search for a body with a long neck and a small knob on top but not too big like a Hot Toys and with a wider neck than a Neo Goh or Slim. It's out there somewhere. He needs closer to DML/Dragon Neo Adam average guy size.

Yay! That's great, Kim-san!

For the body, can you carve off some of the knob so it's a bit smaller to fit the head you want? I know we have to do that sometimes and it often works like a charm.

I don't have the tools and I don't want to do that work on a so-so body when I'd rather wait and get him a good one. There's a reroot head for that Ken body any way.

Iwa_Hoshi: Oh wow Macgyver looks great! I can definitely see what you mean by the likeness there!

Dollykim: Ooh! I may take that hint! Eep yea I'm no help with the physically altering necks to be smaller - additive mods cool, subtractive I get scared... Good luck! I hope you find either a suitable body/workaround

MeltedCaramel: Hah well he hasn't gotten it working and he's had it for several months if you catch my meaning, it's become one of his projects that he can brag about more than anything else!

Yea I despite the issues I adore the Playarts figures I did buy before they got Mad!Pricey - between the Kingdom Hearts and FF guys I'm happy. (I managed to snag the last FFVII Vincent Valentine my "local" comic shop had back in the day! And Halloween Town Sora is the Best Sora :geek: )

Nowadays I've only got the 4 Figmas left  - I got rid of the Hatsune Miku ones quite quickly, never found a Black Rock Shooter and still don't have a clue about the Melancholy of Haruhi Something um... As you can probably tell from that list the last time I seriously contemplated buying one was a few years ago!

Um so it's Lelouch, Rin from Fate Stay Night, Alter Saber from Fate Stay Night and Kurisu Makise. (Though I still regret not picking up a Shana when I had the chance!) Weirdly I never upgraded my Revoltech of Neon Genesis Evangelion's Rei to the Figma version... Probably cos despite the better joint system the Figma is a much smaller figure! Though the Bandai SH arts(?name?) line seems to match the shorter figmas fairly well size-wise - got to admit I only have Black Leg Sanji from them!

Second batch Loki in all his *Ahem* glory: http://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles ... s-9021741/
Differences, no armour plates, no staff accessories, no helmet - higher pricetag... Um what? How does that work???

Um! My BJDs are feeling a bit ...cramped at the moment. The only safe place for them in this house is in their boxes right now I'm afraid! There are photos around here somewhere...

Um right: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7445

Sorry this hasn't been updated in a while. Drax has had a repaint since then (and a new body) and yea the photos are fairly shocking/just missing altogether in a lot of cases! But most of them are listed at least? :?
Crazy Mulitverse Crew: Drax, Jareth, Jerome, Elrana Milenkova, The Thin White Duke, Vasily Lupandin, Ramin Aiphos, Theta Sigma, Aiko Koyame, Lord Havelock Vetinari, Dr Nicholas Rush, Anon., Nyta Kinall, Otto Kreiner, That Demon, Sasu, Yaya, Ombre

I said I'd quit buying action figures. I'm putting all my cash towards BJDs, I said. I'm running out of room, I said. Why did I buy a bunch of Kuroko no Basuke figures off of ebay? WHY? I am a silly person. (squee, they'll arrive tomorrow).

Haha, yeah, meaning caught. Sad he's not really into it though, I have a feeling a BJD owner and a 3D printer are a match made in mad scientist heaven. Heck, weren't those animal BJDs, the first run was a 3D printer right? (I think the 3D printed ones look nice too!)

The Play Arts Kai line is ridiculous. Out of curiousity I priced Scalperbay for Garrus and he's selling for no less than $150 if you're lucky, more per the usual he's $200+. So I search elsewhere. He's in stock at Toys R' Us for his list price. .....Really? Really now? Actually $65~ isn't a bad price for a figure of their size and quality. :D There are issues with some of them (they seem to bungle character designs quite frequently, I've seen oatmeal-face!Garrus and gorilla-arm!Ed) but honestly they're a nice set overall. The positives outweigh the negatives most definitely! (Also, is Vincent as shiny as everyone claims? I'm so curious!)

You're more responsible with your figmas than I am. I tend to be like "I don't care what series it came from, he/she is adorable, must own, must have yesterday!" It's how Lelouch and Suzaku snuck into my collection. Right now Makoto and the Attack on Titan boys are definitely Must Own items. Attack on Titan is part preemptive buying, part "if I hate the series after all I can always re-sell for slightly more than I paid and still not touch scalper prices" territory.

Your collection is modest but quite nice actually. Those Fate/Stay figures are a pain in the behind to get now! Rin Makise...I don't remember the guy's name, but the figma of her boss/whatever, he's totally getting kitbashed to high hell. I'm one of those sacrilegious toy collectors that likes to kitbash super expensive figures. If people knew what I had in mind for Strength...*puts salt ring around perimeter of her house*

I wanted that red-haired Shana so badly! I'm such a sucker for fades!

Loki...is it just me or does the second-run head look less detailed? I can't put my finger on it. And...wait, wait, he's coming without his signature helmet? What in the world are they thinking?!

Your collection, first let me just say I adore Drax's eye colour. Not enough black sclera in the world for me! I often use it to add a touch of creepy to an otherwise cute and innocent character. ;) I love them. *Wiggles fingers dramatically* Also, do you do all your own paintng/faceups? I adore the cybernetic chic of your bunch! Not enough BJDs rock this completely awesome look! Your floating Gretel head is the perfect example of what I need to see more of! <333

Now...fix that page! I want to see what you've updated. ;)

Also, Trethowan, what models specifically did you get? I've been avoiding this series with the single-minded intensity of a person on a mission. Same with Free! and Attack on Titan. Why? (Exactly no one asked.) Because once I watch them all I know I'm going to have a metric-ton explosion of feels, and I'm going to blow my wallet sky high! My friend sneaks Kuroku no Basuke pictures in her emails to me...I'm slowly weakening! Nuuu!

Now tell me all about your figures so I can tempt myself even more. ;)

Kuroko and Free were good stories. You'd LOOOOOOOVE them! hehe. I found some less expensive models, I think they're called Cross Players, and focus on sports things? Crunchyroll had some nicer ones for sale but I never spend more than $30 for a single action figure. Well, I did spend $75 once on a giant Dante, but he was bigger than the usual so I didn't mind it so much.

I haven't seen AoT yet but it's on my list.

Yeah, apparently Attack on Titan eats everyone's brain who watches it. I have yet to have a friend have anything less than overwhelmingly positive things to say about it. Although my friend who decided to show me some manga pictures should have warned me before hand because the art is...less than stellar in the manga. I saw it and burst out laughing, not exactly the right reaction for giant dudes with their skin ripped off eating each other. The particular page she showed me of giants cannibalizing each other looked like an awkward orgy. The anime manages to make the less than desirable art an actual style though. I'm thinking the anime will make me a convert. I have quite a few stories where story definitely trumps art.

As for Free and Kuroko no Basuke...I'm trying so hard to stay away from them because I know I'm going to watch and want a million fanthings. Hell, I don't even know much about him and that Makoto figma is cycling heavily on my want list. I have insidious friends though. "Just going to leave this incredibly yaoitastic screenshot here MMHMM no reason. And here's the online feed. No reason. And here's the couples I like. No reason." A particular one is also trying to lobby me for Prince of Tennis. She's succeeding too, because of all things a minor character couple where one dude is big and scary and destroys property because he's too impatient to go through the front door to see his (boy)friend, who is tiny and kind of adorable. I have a thing for big, scary protective dudes who adore tiny ones!
