One of the women in the traumatic brain injury support group was a deputy who had a stroke. She recovered well enough to go back to work and get her CCW back. Brains can rewire after an injury, especially if you stimulate them.

All day at a pain level of 7-9, I have a really bad tooth situation. OUCH! And hopefully tomorrow the emergency dentist will be able to do something. And this on top of a $700 expense to get the car running. Could be worse. My Uncle had a stroke but he is doing much better. Same for a friends' dad who also seems to have had one. I feel silly whinging about it, but for some reason writing this down helps.
<----First off....why in the world would you feel silly "whining" about it? My mother has had tooth issues all her life and I have seen her so desperate to get an infected tooth out that she would try to take pliers to it at 3AM because she literally could not wait until her 10AM Emergency Appointment, so tooth pain is no freaking joke. I've got The State Insurance From Hell so I'm kind of effed on the tooth situation right now too and I have one waaaaaay in the back that's going to need surgery (I have really weird small teeth in a small mouth---my family has a field day with that one because they always 'wonder where I got my habit of talking so much') and I have another one that's essentially hollowed out rotten and needs to be cleaned every time I eat, so....teeth suck, lets just all get them pulled and gum our food!!

As for your car....OUCH, that's quite a financial hit. I'm sorry to hear that. :( And I'm glad to hear that your Uncle is doing better, at least there's a silver lining on that particular storm cloud. Hope things look up for you soon hun!! :D

My car is going back to the mechanic for the 3rd time within 2 weeks tomorrow. First they changed the thermostat. Then it started overheating and running out of coolant, and, after a lot of tests they decided that there was air in the line and it should be a-okay now.
This morning it started doing the same thing again, so off to the mechanic again. Thankfully everything is still under warranty, so no cost so far.
I think this time I'm going to see if they'll give me a loaner. I've been chipping away at vacation hours, but it's getting a bit ridiculous now.

I just want my car to behave itself and not smell like pancake syrup anymore. That doesn't seem too much to ask.

I officially have bronchitis and laryngitis. I went to the campus health clinic and that's what they told me as well as that they couldn't do anything for me. I tried going to work today and made it an hour and a half to the end of the day when they sent me home.

Alolpecia no Hime Urrrrrghhhh I know how that is!!! Men don't know how good they have it.

quidam What is it with cars? Ever notice that? They can't just break and be fixed, it always turns into a saga worthy of a three part epic. Also, that's really adding insult to injury having to use vacation time to get the darn thing (not) fixed.

....pancake syrup? Is this some weird side effect of the car being broken? (If it is, all things considered, I'd rather have it smell like breakfast food than some of the other horrible, disgusting things cars can stink like.)

Mirrin Oh my gosh!!! I'm so sorry dear!!! ;_____; That's a double whammy!! I'd get a second opinion if you can though, you really need to be on some sort of antibiotic!! :(

I really don't have the time or the funds to go somewhere else, unfortunately, MeltedCaramel. :| I have work all day today and then a 9 hour paint call tomorrow. My schedule is just getting really hectic as I go into tech. I'm probably just going to have to push through it and give some of my draping load to someone else if I can't pull this off... It's really a huge bummer all around.

My jeep has that problem too, quidam. It's been leaking coolent since I got it and it always has that weird smell when it's burning off. It's a pain. I just carry a thing of of antifreeze in the back and check up on it weekly to make sure it's not getting dangerously low. Mine is a slow leak though and only leaks when the heat is on... and as of yet no one's been able to find it or fix it for me. So... I feel your pain.

Mirrin Awww, I'm so sorry sweetie. That really is a suck!!! No one should have to be that sick and just told to "suck it up" basically. Ughhhh. Try and get as much rest as possible and treat yourself well. :)

Also...hmnnn, the pancake smell is a coolant issue??? I think I just want to sit inside quidam's car and see if I get an urge to go to IHOP.

Ha!, My concern there is I tend to wonder if it is good to be inhaling coolant every time I drive.

On the good side of things, I got a call to pick it up, as it supposedly fixed. They are saying the water pump was cracked. Also good was the loaner they gave me was a very nice ride. It was a 2014 Malibu. Of course, since I normally drive a tiny Aveo, I felt like I was steering a giant boat instead of a midsized sedan.

Mirrin- Hopefully they find yours soon! It's a very annoying problem! Also, get better soon!

Aaaaaaaand I spoke too soon. I went to pick up my car, and the check engine light came right on. That's new. At least it should give them a code so they might have a better idea now.
Back into the loan car for the rest of the weekend.

The mechanic and I are becoming great friends..
