At school today, there were some jerks with one of those illegal laser pointers, and were shining them right INTO people eyes and laughing... They got me and it hurt and I ended up having to go to the doctor to get it checked out and guess what, there's slight damage. Nothing permanent, but still >:I It hurts like a mofo.
I'm seriously debating suing them for assault, 'cause it technically is just that.

In better news, we did find where he came from (we think) and we contacted Dream of Doll. They got back to her, and said they were very sorry it happened and that it wasn't our fault. They did say they now ship their dolls with certificates of authenticity, so for the record, anyone buying a DoD second hand, ask for the certificate and buyer beware. They even said it was ok that she keep him, with the stipulation that he stays with her, and is never resold, which of course won't be a problem because she's so totally in love with him. And really, he's such a sweet little thing, it's hard not to love him, even though he is recast.

I'm actually kind of impressed by this whole scenario. Not only did you go out of your way to try to make amends with the company- even when they would have been unaware of it,but the company itself made a pretty classy move without demanding destruction or taking it out on you in any way. All in all, as much as it stinks that he was an illegal recast, it's not a horrible outcome.
