Hey, in that case, I'm feeling a little whiny that I sliced half-way into my fingertip. It was uber gross. And deep too, I was afraid I cut close enough to nick the tendon/ligament that allows my finger to bend completely. Guh. That was almost two weeks ago, and it's healing well enough, and not infected so that's good, but I still can't get full flexion.

DollyKim, you mentioned
We don't compare sucks around here. Medical problems aren't a race or a contest with anyone but yourself and your health.
. Oh, I know that, and I wasn't trying to compare my sucks to anyone else's health issues (I haven't personally read any of the health sucks that may be posted here, this is a BIG THREAD to get though and I'm not done yet), I just wrote a HUGE long pouring-out of my truthfully rather serious medical woes, and then I realized it sounded less like a "suck" and more like a desperate cry for help of the psychiatric kind. It was depressing as hell to even read, and I mentioned some less than pleasant things in it, so I decided it was best to delete the overly-personal and depressing message. Unfortunately most of the time I feel like I'm losing that race. *Sighs*

I feel having to save up for a new distraction device with a more updated iOS to run half the apps I want to use when the one I have works fine is a suck. That's money I could use for a big doll or even a bed, funds I'd have if we didn't have to replace our car to cut that story short.
<---Sorry to hear about your suck!! Replacing a new car is always hectic, isn't it? And it's always a scramble to either find a better model or you just end up buying a newer model of your old car.

Oh....ouch! Just...ouch!! I once backed up onto a pointed pair of fabric scissors and managed to bury it into the back of my foot until almost half of the scissors were buried in there. I had fallen backwards and couldn't stop my own inertia. So I know how gingerly you have to treat hand and foot wounds!!! Arghh, I don't envy you! Hopefully you get full flexion back soon!! Has it at least improved as it healed? :)

so apparently joking at a christmas party about sending a mouthy kid to the salt mines was offensive enough to make a complaint and me written up.

I mean... seriously? I'm pretty sure I have said worse.

Wait, what???! That's absurd (the complaint, not what you'd said, just to clarify.)

Please feel free to send the person who made the complaint to the UK, to the company (and department) I work in. They'll keel over dead from the shock. I don't think we've ever mentioned sending someone to a salt mine; but killing, maiming and poisoning are not unheard of topics in our normal office banter.

I'm pretty sure that same evening I told a child it wouldn't be abuse if I beat her since she wasn't my child, and her mom agreed with me. I could have at least gotten written up for that.
general consensus is that they didn't get the joke and was really offended that it went over their head.

I am now known as Slicey. My sister is Stabby, since she stabbed her arm with a kitchen knife last year. Apparently we sisters should not be allowed around kitchen knives.

it's healing well enough, once the skin is fully sealed I'll test more aggressive bending.

TO THE SALT MINES WITH YOU!!!

knittnkitten Oh my God, that has to be one of the ridiculous things I have ever heard someone get written up for in the workplace. It's not like you said "Haha, yeah that mouthy kid...I want to blow his head off." (Though now I'm thinking you should have, if you had magical hindsight and knew you were going to get written up anyway. XD More bang for the buck...err...not literally.) That reminds me oddly enough of all things, my school years, when a friend of mine was given a suspension for jokingly placing a potato chip on her friend's head. My friend told me her mother got the call and was like "Are you really serious? For a potato chip?" Some people just can't take jokes. Honestly.

Trethowan Slicey, may I ask how in the world your sister stabbed her own arm with a kitchen knife? XD That seems like the most awkward injury to explain ever. "I accidentally stabbed myself in the arm. With a kitchen knife." Hey, I still have a scar from the whole "Let's fall on scissors!" debacle, so I'm in the same boat with you two for stupid personal injuries. My mother also accidentally cut my finger open with of all things, a butter knife. She did it completely by accident while we were cooking together, she thought I had loosened my grip and just yanked it out of my hand and the friction of those little teeth on the knife was enough to slice open a finger and so I got to go around saying "My mother hurt me with a knife! :o " and she would get embarrassed and go "IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, STOP ACTING LIKE I PURPOSELY STABBED YOU OR SOMETHING." I suspected after a week or so of this treatment she was fully ready to commit murder.

Hmmnnn, random personal suck: Getting packages in cold snowy weather. Approximately half a million packages ordered for Christmas showed up today and I can't bend over more than once due to my injury and even that itself is taxing, and I open my door to find the space between the door and the screen door piled up with around twenty (HALF A MIILLION) packages. They're still there. I couldn't muster up the energy. XD

If you haven't tried the exercises on this page, you should; they made an enormous difference to me.

hahaha... Well, Slicey happened while trying to open a cayenne pepper spice pack with a 12 inch kitchen blade. That right there was pretty stupid when I had kitchen scissors three steps away from me. Stabby happened while trying to open vacuum-sealed packaging last Christmas, again, with an unnecessarily large kitchen knife, cause the size of a blade is everything. *snicker* Why do we go after giant knives instead of a simple pair of scissors? Silly us. Next time I'm going to use a katana to open something and see what happens. I might go from Slicey to Ampy. heheh...

victoriavictrix Thank you for being so sweet and offering up the page, but my issue is more of a medical mystery than anything. I'm personally betting on a very deep nerve being pressed on constantly as literally nothing works. Even prescription anti-inflammatory medication is like popping an M&M and asking it for pain relief (totally in before the "chocolate releases endorphins" response! XD). The only thing that remotely helps, and mind you this is in the ER combined with heavy meds, is the medication Toridol. They give it to you in shot form and it burns like someone stuck hellfire under your skin, but it seemed to give me minimal relief. The only issue is that Toridol literally will rip up your gastro-intestinal system if used orally, and they don't trust you to give yourself a shot of the stuff, so no prescription Toridol is available. I've also been advised NOT to do any sort of physical activity since it aggravates my pain to the point where ER trips happen. Because they're having a devil of a time figuring out what is wrong with me, they're getting frustrated (never a good sign) and starting to treat me like I'm somehow psychologically damaged instead of physically damaged. I've had some doctors office visits where I literally come out in tears because of the things the so called "professionals" say to me. Doctors can treat you as less than the dog shit on their shoe. Since they, the "expert" can't find the root cause of it, I must be imagining things because surely they in all their infinite, Godly wisdom couldn't be wrong.

So as of right now I'm just being treated for calcium deficiency and "unknown back pain". Since the back pain is ~mysterious~ they're being cautious with my physical restrictions since I could come back and say "Such and Such told me it was okay to go lift this hundred pound bag of rocks and I now have worse injury!" and ta-da, instant fear of lawsuit!

Bah, can you tell I'm tired of the medical profession? I promise I'm not usually this much of a grumpy grumperkins.

May I ask, if it's not too intrusive, why you ended up doing those exercises? What was the nature of your injury?

Trethowan Ampy!! Haha, oh boy. Yeah, I have a bad habit of opening things with my pocket knife, but I realized it kind of freaks people out when I'm like *SNIK* and they look over and I'm holding a knife and then I have to be like "I'm just opening a package, chill." 8-) I think it just freaks 'em out when one minute no knife, the next, magic pocket knife appears! I always hold the knife away from me though which many people forget in the excitement and/or frustration of opening packages. :P Be careful with those knives girl! Don't lose a finger! And...don't ever get near your sister when she's holding a knife!! Buy caution tape and cordon off the area to minimize the carnage! Also, why do I have the feeling some asshole nerd out there who thinks he's a ninja sits around and opens up his packages with katanas because that's how all the cool ninjas did it back in the feudal era when their new laptops arrived, don't you know? Pshaw, common fact.
