I'm a celiac. I was diagnosed 4-5 years ago. I'm pretty good about it usually, but today at work was terrible and there was a really good looking cookie up for grabs on the counter and I ate that thing with a vengeance. Of course I'm regretting the hell out of that.

According to the DMV we can't drive the car at all to get the permit we need to drive it to get it smogged so we can get it put in our name and get it insured so we can drive it. All over one signature.

So at the rate things are going it'll be Monday, at least 2 busses, and hours of bull. Plenty of people around here wouldn't even bother but we'd be the ones the cops would stop.

Thanks :) It's down to waiting for the DMV to open on Monday so the last owner can take the non-op off so it'll be Tuesday or Wednesday or next year before we can drive knowing the DMV. So annoyingly close because it's sitting there all tan and carpet colored.

Thanks, it should, pending on the DMV. We still get all the doll money eating fees but at last we have a car. It's a 1999 so it's also the youngest car we've ever had. Still, it's a car.

Well, we couldn't move Saturday because of the rain so we did it today (Sunday). The storage unit, the climate controlled one that promised they sprayed routinely for pests, didn't do such a good job containing our stuff. The roof leaked. I'd reported it once before and though they fixed THAT leak it seems that it has done so again. Some of our boxes collapsed. Wet cardboard stained the couch and table. There were roaches skittering about too and dozens upon dozens of dead creepy crawly things.

I was thoroughly disappointed. It's what we get for not checking up on the storage unit more frequently I suppose. We had to throw out the mattress and box springs, much of my comic book collection got wet, the clothes in some boxes looked un-wearable, and we're quite certain all the boxes that got moved into our garage/basement will be bringing nasty roaches into the house. We'll probably have to have the pest control company out for a quick re-spray before things get out of hand.

We told the lady at the front desk, and she basically seemed like she didn't care. They can't do anything about the problems folks have so we'll have to take it up with the owners. I photographed all of the grossness, the damage, and the bugs, and will send in a letter of complaint, write a bad review on Angie's List (great site, btw), but I'm not sure what else we could do. Maybe sum up what's completely destroyed and see if they'll reimburse? Not sure if it's worth the time or not. We'll see as things unpack. I'm sure they'll just say "you can't prove it wasn't like that when you brought it here" or some BS like that.

Those issues aside, I'm glad to have my things about me once more.

Guh. Roaches totally creep me out.

Did you take pictures of the stuff while it was in the unit? That could be your saving grace along with previous leaks. I'd call corporate and tell them. Skanky conditions, especially on Angie's List, could ruin them. See if other customers have complained about that too. If it's an ongoing problem with them you go to a consumer reporter at the newspaper or local news show.

You might be able to make a small claims court case. A leaky roof and bugs doesn't seem to live up to reasonable expectations of climate control. Even a garage or shed sounds like it would have been less leaky.

I photographed the heck out of that place. Yeah, seriously, I think my own little outbuilding would have serviced me better than this. Grr. It's a new facility too.

Lessons learned, store in tupperware tubs. Not cardboard. I've learned that roaches like to eat the glue.
Don't stack things too high, and leave walk-through space between stacks if possible.

Or another lesson learned, have less stuff. hahahahahaha

Just got my work schedule and I'm not scheduled to work on Halloween...the only day we get to dress up and the only reason I'd have for dressing up. I already had my costume planned and some of the material purchased. Whaaaa! I sent an email to the person who does scheduling, but it doesn't look good for me. I only work 14 hours a week and there is only one person who I could trade with and she's not working that day either. I'm so bummed.
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.
