I got to see the images of tiny fingers, crossed legs, even the impressions of the face (though vaguely.) It was really cool. It shall henceforth be known as Karate Baby: Master of the Chop n' Block.

That is so cool! Congrats!

I was starting to get kinda cranky at my course, because its aimed at working at long term care facilities... and I don't think that's what I'm into at all. but I looked at the open positions at the hospital down the road and I'm feeling better. there's even a spot open at the ER! way more up my alley.

At least he isn't singing "Epiphany", right?

Hot News Flash for you. When you sell the movie rights, you sign away ALL control over what is done with the property. That's the way it is. If you are not willing to do that, you won't get a movie made from your book.

As true as that is, SOME people actually want the movie to be half as decent as the book when they make it T__T this wasn't one of them

Yup, if I sell the rights to Xavier's story I expect him to be played by a kid younger than the doll and to have exploding space alien boobies instead of the just turned 40 well trained actor who was the muse my creeping fridge horror needed. But was the Host written better than Twilight in the first place?

I think Stephen King's books to movies indicates what can happen when best selling (and loved) books are made into movies. Either the director/studio does whatever the hell they want until the finished product does little more than share the same title with the book, or the author-who-isn't-a-director takes control and tries to preserve the integrity of the book at the expense of a quality movie product....

There are exceptions, of course. I'm hoping it indicates a move from Hollywood to actually attempt to follow a book's premise in the same way they finally got it through their thick money-or-nothing heads that they needed to be respectful of the comics they were making into movies.

I remember Anne McCaffrey making a comment at Dragon*Con several years back that she would never sell the rights to the Pern books without having control over the finished product. Something along the lines of not wanting to have her dragons attacking modern day Los Angeles....

...Not going to lie. I would probably pay to watch that movie. I would also cry over it, but I would totally watch it.
