Have you been to tvtropes.org ? There is a use for cliches and a balance that can be found. Joseph Campbell has examined the forms of the hero's journey and how there are some things that are just part of stories no matter what.

Reaching the point where you and your characters are ready to find a new path is an important step. I have OCs that have been with me for years and have changed and grown as I've learned more. They are like children and will grow as they learn and discover more. My once wraith filled angel of death has found his "humanity" over time.

TVtropes is pretty awesome. It helps you avoid so many pitfalls. :-p

my problem is my stories tend to splinter and go off into different directions from the same point in the timeline. so now I have 3 or 4 variations of the same story.

I kinda do the same thing, except to confuse myself further I like to throw in alternate realities, alternate timelines, different characters point of view and stuff like that.

Then choose your own adventure books were created... I once needed a roll of paper on a wall and a bunch of colored pencils to connect the threads of a spider's web of a story. It took awhile but I was able to get it cohesive enough to make it work out. And parts of it are still going on.

Meanwhile I do believe I have published my first non doll book http://www.lulu.com/shop/kim-reed/noctu ... 69690.html I promised Xavier I'd get it out in 2013 and I have!

It's creepy horror stories, not for little kids but might go over well with teens, it's where the characters for my Xavier doll and his family come from.

Sounds just right to me! That's how I base/scale my dolls on, too. ^^

Thanks! - I'd seen some brilliant photos where there were two Soom Mecha Angels being parents to 2 YoSDs and a tiny; and it was a hell of a double-take! I'd never realised that they actually do manage to look to scale with each other so had to double check! That's pretty cool to know!

I think the Island Doll Aggie might be the most adorable girl doll I have ever seen. She's just so perfect for Genevieve (Lafayette's twin sister) that it makes me want to squeal sometimes. She's so cute and happy and gahhhhh I need her.
