So I decided to make my own doll and that way sidestep the first question. Later I will post progress photos of how this all developed. It took me about four months to just make the HEAD!!! So i decided for the time being to put her on a store-bought body. I have many different brands of bodies, and I find that Angel of Dream bodies post really well.
After making the head in LaDoll airdry clay, I had a plaster copy made (long story, not what I wanted). I refined that a bit more, then shipped it off to Gerald, Zirconmermaid's husband (and maker of the kitty cat ears). He made me two copies- one to put on now, and another one to keep refining. I spent a couple of days sanding, and then did a fast (and kind of craptastic) face-up. It was a bit early, but I was so excited to get the actual resin head I couldn't wait. I will probably wipe this face-up, sand more, and then redo it.
Anyway- here is Mary, named that because when I was a little girl, every doll I owned was named Mary. The light wasn't great and my battery was dying, so these are really fast shots.
