Oooooooookey. I start this thread with a large amount of trepidation but it is something I have wanted to talk about for awhile. So yes, I know there is some issues with some other sites (that shall not be named) and the running of them and bad feelings among users but that isn't what this thread is going to be about. I also put it here because my dolls are mostly 1/3 scale and they are what I am talking about if it goes somewhere else sorry!
Basically I love Doll Family. Love love love them. Their doll sculpts are exactly what I am looking for when I am casting characters and I have more of them then any other company. Now I have a fondness for all types of dolls but have had the most issues, strangely, with my resin Asian ball jointed dolls.
There are places for me to talk about my cloth dolls, my little obitsu, even my playmobil (sheepish laugh) sets but for some reason these guys seem to be an issue. Doll companies like Resinsoul (I have an An ) and Miro doll, for whatever reason, seem to fall into this category of "cheap" resin. This is a load of crock in my opinion but there is a community among the defenders of their dolly honor that is welcoming and open. There are the expensive dolls as well. I know some people think they are better then the others and all that, but there are plenty of lovely people who have these dolls and saved their pennies to get them and sit them on the shelf right next to their Resinsoul family. Whoever they are they have a place to go and sing the praises of their dolls.
Now forums exist where I can talk about my guys, and there are threads on places like Den of Angels that focus on the company, but they don't seem to have a real community. I would say it is because they are a smaller community of owners but I know of at least a few dozen on that forum alone. There just isn't as much discussion about them or the company as a whole. I get the very strange feeling that if your resin Asian ball jointed dolls are not the subject of extreme controversy one way or the other they tend to slip in between the cracks.
Small artist companies have their fan base and companies with scandals to their name have both detractors and defenders discussing them somewhere. But unless I want to hop on a tiny thread on a website and wait a few days for someone to reply, I really don't get to share my dolls.
What I really want to know is if anyone else feels this way about their dollies? I love my guys to pieces and don't give a ...(well you know) what company they come from. I just wish that I had a place to share the love I have for this particular group of guys more freely. Do any of you feel like there is an entire group of your dollies who just do not seem to be discussed? Maybe you feel is underappreciated?
Hopefully this thread can turn into a place for those of us who don't have as much of a community for our "In between" doll companies to get excited and share our love. That's why I love this forum
