Very interesting....Signs of competition there. I wonder how the other Japanese 1/3 scale vinyl doll maker will react(if at all)?

Mmmmm, I think I am sorely tempted...now if I could get the alna head lol. I still would like some magnetic feet and adjustable screws in the skeleton though.

With the DDS and the DD3, Volks looks a bit like they are playing catch up. The DDS fills in the "50cm" size spot in their line with elbows and an internal chest piece that looks very similar to the Obitsu 50cm's. Without having seen the internals, the DD3 looks like an update of the DD2 with new DDS parts.

Obitsu has other clients for which they have been very busy making new products. Obitsu makes a 48cm version of the 50cm, so far exclusively for Azone. There's the new Parabox 40cm and a variety of 1/4 and 1/3 scale heads. There are 5 different Visuadoll head sculpts on two Obitsu bodies. The 5th body in the Yamato VMF50 line, the Type F, was released in April 2011 and several new realistic eye open heads are in the works. And can you say 11cm's?

Obitsu has been plenty busy.

I thought of this thread today. I had watched the movie "Robots". When they were going on about no longer selling spare parts and only upgrades it made me think of how Obitsu sells spare parts while Volks mainly doesn't. DH thought I was nuts because I was laughing so hard till I explained my train of thought. The whole movie I was thinking of Bad guys = volks and good guys = Obitsu!

Tell me more about these Visuadoll heads. I knew about the 48cms - though they seem to be slightly shorter legs and slightly shorter trunk versions of the 50cm. The Yamatos do interest me, but they are too difficult to get here - and outrageously expensive (here). I like the sound of new head sculpts, and like their eye open heads. The 11cms are too small for me personally.

And people still ask me why I haven't got a DD yet.

Maybe its just me but after handling my doll group's DDs I find that the legs feel kinda hollow (Obis feel more solid) and that scares me. Maybe I'm just afraid that I might break something by accident. Well that and the fact there isn't a DD sculpt that was screaming to be my doll. (What doll would want to put itself through what I make them do? )
