Planning my First Doll

Postby Noxxbunny » Sun Jun 21, 2015 11:38 pm

Hi everyone. I just joined and I was looking for some help with the planning of my first doll. I plan on making a DD Obitsu hybrid boy towards the end of the year, but I'm having a hard time deciding on a body. I know I want to use a DDH 07, but I can't pick between the 50cm or the 55cm. So I was hoping that maybe someone had pictures of this combination? Or could take some?

This is the first doll I'll be taking pretty seriously, so I'm so scared of getting one body or the other and not liking how they look together. I'm worried about the head being too big or too small looking...Any help would be appreciated. :D Plus, I just love to see other people's boys, so that'll be fun.

I don't currently have an 07 head, but here is my gender swapped Nanami on a 55cm body, Hiroki.

Are you ever going to have your boy around any DDs in the future? Since my boy and future planned boys are around DDs they have to be in scale. To me, the 50cm is almost the height of the 55cm, but immature, so it's around 11-13 years old. My Hiroki is a bit short for his age since he is shorter than a DDS, so I have him at 14 years old. And the 65cm male body would be late high school age, about 17-18, since he's about the same height as a DDIII.

But if you only have him, since the 07 looks more mature than the Nanami mold, he could be however old you want. Then the choice between the 50cm and the 55cm is just whether you prefer the more mature body.
The Resin: Nerina (RS sky blue Mei)

The Small Wonder: currently unnamed 11cm Obitsu

The DDs: Ayano, Mitsuki, Akira, Kotone, Selena, Ichigo, Lydia, Hiroki, Kate, Hikari

Thanks for the picture. I've seen your boy on another forum while trying to dig out a DDH 07 combo. XD Seeing other heads on the body isn't too reassuring to me because I guess the DDH 07 is sort of large or something? I don't own any other DD heads, so I don't really know. And yeah, I won't have any DD in the foreseeable future. A little too out of my price range, and by the time I can afford one, the male smart doll line will probably be out and I'll likely go with that instead. The different scales don't really bother me. :)

But that's interesting to hear about maturity and the body. I've been leaning towards the 55cm, so I'm glad to hear that the difference in height isn't huge. I'm just so scared of tiny head! Lol.

The Obitsu 50cm body is a much more slender body than the 55cm body. Most heads you see on 50cms are 6-7 and 7-8 in diameter, whereas most DD heads are in the 8-9 range This refers to wig size in inches, which is the head circumference at the hairline. The 55cm would be more appropriate proportionally for the DD07 and other Volks and SQ Lab anime style heads.

Sounds like I'll be going with the 55cm then. :D Thanks! Still hoping someone will post pictures though. I got a couple months before I'll be going for this.

I really like the 55cm body. I have some pics of Lee floating around somewhere. Well, and there are loads of them in the photostories section. ha. :-)

edit: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10256 <----- the guy with the phone sitting in the chair is my 55cm Obitsu with the larger Gretel head. Lee R. Jenkins. Avid player of WoW. XD

He's wearing the smaller SD sized clothes and American Girl tennis shoes. ha. They're a little floppy on his feet. The obitsu dolls have smaller feet (and hands) than their resin counterparts. I have trouble finding non-Azone/obitsu shoes to fit.

He's incredibly light weight though and poses really well. If you want, I can pose him next to a 50cm girl and a 48cm girl and the 40cm girl and the 50cm boy body. Or you can probably see better options on Obitsu's website, so that might not be necessary.

Thanks for the offer and the info! I'm good on height comparisons. Plus, I don't plan on owning a girl right now...and the only other doll I have is about about 36cm. :) I've done a lot of digging and so I've seen everything related that comes up(that I have access to anyway) I only asked because I just couldn't find the specific 55cm and DDH07 combo anywhere, no matter how much digging I did. So I figured the only way I was going to find out was to ask!
