60cm Obitsu girl x 2 ... height difference..?

Postby Evelien » Fri Jul 01, 2011 3:46 am

How can that be? Sosha (left) and her "older" sister (right, she'll get a new Joshua head though) are not the same height. They're both the Obitsu 60BD-F04W-G, but Sosha stands slightly taller. It's not the shoes, not the pose, there really is a slight difference in height.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it because if I switch heads Sosha's sister will really be a bit taller than Sosha and I think that's awesome. But... why? How can this be? :o

Between the ankles and the neck, there are well over a dozen joints and connections in the Obitsu skeleton. Many of them are where a long "bone" section fits into a joint. These can come out from their sockets a bit from the frequent rotation they receive. Another place to look at is the torso. Misalignment of the various interior torso parts (the "spine") can lead to slight height differences. Another place to look is the round abdominal part, a.k.a. the "dumb bell" (http://parabox.jp/obitsu/60PARTS/60RP-F01NP-24.html). This little assembly forms the center piece of the 47/55/60cm Obitsu's spine. It consists of two parts that sleeve together and are held in place by a set screw. By loosening this screw the two parts can be slid in and out giving a small amount (1cm to about 1.5cm I think) of height adjustment.

Judging from your photo, it would appear the girl on the right has a little less of the top of her abdomen vinyl sticking out below the bust vinyl. Quite possibly the girl on the left has her round abdominal part extended a little, increasing her height.

Since both of your girls were bought "previously enjoyed", it wouldn't hurt to do a little simple disassembly to check for wear, clean house, and realign those spinal parts (the two oblong abdominal parts and the round abdominal part).

Wow! Thanks for the info even though it wasn't for me. This will help me with my girls once I get more bodies.

Definitely. I find that anytime you purchase a previously used body, you are better to do a dis-assembly for cleaning and so you can inspect the joints for breakage, and tighten/loosen them as appropriate. The spine in the Obitsu body is particularly prone to fracture - the T-shaped pieces tend to crack in the middle. But the nice thing is that you can immediately identify those issues and repair them resulting in a frame that's as good as new.

Mine have slight height differences too, and I got them both new from JS. I'm afraid to take them apart, so they will just be different.
K2, you amaze me all the time.

yah, you dun wanna try to take it apart. It takes some serious effort. One leg ball joint is refusing to come off on mine.

Thanks so much for the info! Very valuable! I am now wondering if I'm willing to take them apart... I LIKE the difference in height lol... Perhaps I'm too lazy :-\

I kinda did hehe. I didn't take them apart or anything, just pushed-and-clicked some joints tighter, so now the height difference is a little less but it's still there and I love it :)
