I have been trying to find out where this tail comes from for ages.

Someone speculated it may have been a prototype part for Obitsus, but I contacted parabox and got this response:
"Hello,
The tail part is not Obitsu. I think the tail part is made by pate.
The upper part is Obitsu.
Thank you very much,
parabox"

Does anyone have any idea who/what pate is? Or where this tail comes from?

This part is old garage (resin) kit that was made by amateur artist in Japan.
I had bought one in local event in many years ago (early than 2005) , and sold it in this forum.

BTW, The amateur artinst is moved to 1/3 scale and discontinued all 1/6 items.

That looks like the one, other than the one in the photo looks transparent.
Any idea how I might be able to track one down?

I checked old log of "mermaid doll" thread in 2ch (Japanese famous BBS).
This mermaid tail (called "Guppy-2") was produced at 2006, and sold at limited doll events in same year.
It contains standard resin color and transparent version (very rare).

Unfortunately, after 2007, in that log, we had lost a connection to the artist who produced Guppy-2.
I tried google with a word "Guppy-2" but I found only live guppy.
I have ever not seen this part in any auction in Japan.

I was the one who won/purchased it from Yah-sama (Doumo arigatou gozaimashita yo! Anata ha tottemo shinsetsu yo!) a few years ago.

Well, if it is a garage kit, that means that it was sculpted. And as a resin add-on would people be interested in a similar item? If so, I could see if Gerald and I could make one.
