Barbie heads

I found some abandoned barbies this week during our city's bi annual large item pickup. Not sure the age of the Barbie or ken but they were in the old Barbie dollieh trunk. Complete with clothes! What a find! I know they are old because they were made in Japan, plus they have that old Body style or the 80 s. two of them are missing heads. I would love to give them resin bjd heads if I could but I would be happy with any heads I could put on them. So where is a good place to get heads and which heads would fit?

Check the sales section here and maybe ask if anyone has extra Barbie heads they want to part with.

I can probably ID them if you want to post some pics. I have Barbies from the 60's till now and usually know most Barbies pretty well on sight. 80's Barbies can be a bit tricky. There was an explosion of Barbies about then and they are not documented as well, but I can usually find out eventually if I don't know.

Here are the photos, I sure could use all the help. Actually, i found out that these Barbies are from 1966! The original heads from that year are probably very hard to find. How hard would it be to mod a resin BJD head to these bodies? Will Obitsu heads just pop on?

Rooted or rootable Obitsu heads will pop on if there's a neck knob. You might be able to find reproduction heads which would do them some justice. Is the blonde a Francie?

And half the money could be in the case if it's in nice shape. Open it up if it needs to air out and give it some dryer sheets.

Yes she is a Francie. I was thinking an obitsu head would fit the Barbie, but the Ken doesn't have a neck nob. Are there any tutorials that might help me? I might just have to search Barbie Mods and go from there. What could I use to clean up the stains on her?

I've used Oxyclean Free (throw some in water, soak) to great effect on my vintage Barbie clothing but make sure it's the bleach free version. As for the stains I use Non scented Dawn Clear and Free and it works quite well. Sometimes I use a child's soft toothbrush to scrub a little but you will have to be very careful with these as old Barbies can be fragile. Make sure you also keep colors of like type together when you soak as not all Barbie clothes are colorfast particularly when vintage.

I haven't heard anyone mention a resin head that worked well on a Barbie body. Skintones will probably be your biggest challenge, even with Obitsus- some of the paler girls from the '00s are the only ones I've had luck matching to those colors.
