Oh, if only the shoes were MH sized... There seems to be lots of MH knock offs popping up, there's even a
flickr group for them.

These look pretty nice for a young girl. But for us big kids they do look a little dorky.
I have a MH knock off. I have Midnight Magic Day & Night Mila. Her hair is actually nicely done.

I'm sorry, but I really don't see how those are Monster High knock-offs. They aren't monsters. They don't look anything like the MH characters. The only connection I can see is that the company that made them are trying to ride the wave of the current popularity of punk and Gothic dolls. The current trend is as much a product of the popularity of Harry Potter and Twilight (and other magic/occult-influenced stories) as it is Monster High. Punk, Gothic, Steampunk and Lolita are very trendy now.

I think you are unfamiliar with the original basic version of each doll. (It's been a while since they're release) I see Draculara, Ghoulia, Lagoona, and Cleo.
I made these to show you what I mean, they're the original basics of Draculara and Ghoulia, you can see with the Draculara they even copied her cheek tattoo.

They kind of look like Living Dead molds. If I had the room I'd be on the hunt for some of these simply for how horrible they are. Are they hollow and feel like they'd dent if you squish them?
I have seen Mystixx dolls IRL and they're on the better end. I was considering one to make a MH Claire doll but the eye sculpts weren't going to work for her. If someone does get one I'd like to see a comparison as I haven't put them completely out of my mind.

Yeah, while there seems to be a lot of generally goth-looking dolls coming out now some are quite blatant MH-ripoffs, all the way down to the box art.

The comparison pictures do change my mind a bit. It does look like the cheap dolls are trying to copy the MH color schemes. And the green headband combined with the blue hair on both dolls does look a little too spot-on to have been coincidence.

They look like they tried to copy but couldn't figure out how to do the awesome head to body ratio that MH dolls have going for them. Instead they look like dollar store dolls. XD They tried though... I'll give them a star. *Also some of the clothes are pretty cute*
