Anyone know who this is?

I recently got a jointed, flat foot Barbie at the thrift store in with a Liv doll I needed, similar to the Matchmaker Magic Mulan doll. The head has red hair with bangs, aqua round earrings, closed mouth and green eyes and says "1985 MATTEL INC" on it. The body says "1993 MATTEL INC MALAYSIA" and kinds looks like she has an orangey color to it. I am just curious to know which doll it is.

I'll have to wait to take a picture until break is over since they don't let people sign out the camera over break. I figured I'd post a description in case someone could figure it out sooner.

I won't be able to tell you much until I see pics, but I can tell you that the flat-footed, articulated body sold in the 1980s-1990s is known among collectors as the "gymnast body" because it was used for a lot of sports-oriented dolls.

A closed-mouth face mold with red hair could be either Barbie or Midge. Won't know for sure till I can see it.

I'm betting that's got to be a Hot Skatin Midge. This girl look familiar to you? It's hard to see here but she does have bangs and she is on that body, and check out the earrings. Aqua rounds...

It is Hot Skatin Midge. I was just going to come here and mention that someone somewhere else I had posted about her had figured it out too. Her hair has been cut and stands on end but her face isn't that bad so I am not sure what I should do with her.

Get her some new hair and keep her. She's a Midge. Midge is awesome. You can never have too many Midge dolls. (Speaking as someone who has at least a dozen!) :) That Midge has a really nice face. I like 90's Midge the best I think but any Midge is worth keeping. I hate to see a Midge looking like that but a wig or reroot would fix that, no problem. Me, I'd get her another body though if you can find one in her skin tone. Those flat foot athletic bodies kind of suck I think. Midge can be hard to match up though sometimes. Some of her incarnations are a bit orange.

I kind of like that style of body, except the problem that it is rather hard to find shoes for them (their feet are a little big for Liv flat shoes) and for some reason her joints seem a little looser that the Mulan I have, especially in the knees.

There were a couple of shoe packs that came out about that time, and some for the Jazzy doll. It's pretty much the same body as the gymnast Barbie and has a nice ball waist. In my crew the Twirling Ballerina and Lounge Kitty have the same waist joint. The hinge knees do loosen up with time.

I have the same face on my Earring Magic (?) redhead, nice to know she's a Midge, but I put her on a 100 Poses body. Let me know if you reroot her in the same color, my gal has dry crimped hair that doesn't brush.

I had one of those flat-foot barbies. I swapped the legs for the hinge-knee pointy-toed ones because I liked the ball-joint torso better, and the flat feet were eaten by beasts. Which reminds me, I have those pics I took of the swap. -goes to post them-
